PRIVATE TASTING VIBES with & - Had the pleasure of co-hosting a private tasting with that celebrated how great wine can make you feel wherever you are on the wine journey. From novice to knowledgeable, all were welcome to enjoy two wines from Overshine: Rosé & Las Cimas Pinot Noir paired with homemade gumbo 🤯

When I stepped in & smelled the gumbo simmering on the stove, I was immediately transported to Baton Rouge & felt at home. Pairing Cajun foods with wine is a passion of mine & tasting the gumbo made with love by our hostess, Michelle, & pairing it with the Overshine wines was quite the treat. The great thing about Gumbo is there are so many flavors in the pot. Bites with shrimp & crab were absolute perfection with the rosé while bites with sausage paired perfectly with the Pinot Noir.
I couldn’t think of a better pairing lineup for gumbo. The crowd wholeheartedly agreed.

At some point, I had to put down the gumbo & do some work 🤣 It’s easy when the wine over shines I continued to advocate for ROSÉ ALL YEAR due to its ability to pair with food and brighten any moment. Meanwhile, the Las Cimas Pinot Noir continues to get better and better each time I open a bottle. The Tasting Session poured out through the speakers, the wine education flowed easily, & the vibes were impeccable.

PETITE SIRAH & RED BEANS & RICE VIBES - A rainy, cold day in Truckee called for the some comfort food & Petite Sirah 🍷

Schedule was crazy on 1/1! Gratefully, I had some Red Beans & Rice leftover from Christmas. BONUS: It always gets better with some time in the fridge. I added some Northwoods Fire because the cold night was calling for some 🔥🔥🔥 It was perfect for a chill night with the fam & even more perfect paired with Petite Sirah.

WINE: This one has got it all… Juicy dark fruit, acidity for days, & a deliciously fine structure. Perfectly balanced… The fruit flavors balanced out the Pepperdine’s of the red beans and the tannin matched perfectly with the fat from the fam and andouille sausage. This was a special pairing. Everything felt cozy. Hype to try more , I got a Barbera in the fridge right now 🍷🍷🍷

HOLIDAY VIBES - The holidays hit different without Mom… But a moment with Pops with Premier Cru Pinot Noir in our glass reminded me of the beauty of togetherness.

My pops was responsible for my introduction to fine wine & my love for Pinot Noir… When I noticed his memory beginning to fade, I dedicated myself to trying to create the most memorable experiences for him when he’d visit: Bay Area outings with the grand-queens, wine country excursions, fine dining at incredible restaurants, & homemade Cajun favorites made with love by myself and paired with his favorites. From those experiences: Dope Wines, Dope Vibes was born.

Now with his chronic conditions progressing, those experiences are no longer an option… It’s different now… & difficult … but beautiful nonetheless. So I find gratitude for the smallest, simplest moments of togetherness.

Cheers to those battling with grief at this time & all those caring for their loved ones.

Sun came through on an overcast day & brightened things up. Similar to how the Pinot Noir brightens up the palate with tart raspberry & bright acidity. 🍷

LAS CIMAS PINOT NOIR VIBES - As fall turns into winter, I seek bright red wines with high acid like I’m trying to hold on to the last bit of warmth and sunshine. The Las Cimas Pinot Noir from is literally sunshine in a bottle. Grown at high elevation above the fog lines, these grapes soak up the sunshine to get that deliciously, ripe red fruit flavor. While the cooling breezes help maintain acidity and balance. Beautiful stuff. This one is drinking wonderfully now but will undoubtedly get better with time!

DECORATION VIBES - Finally stopped the procrastination & got to decorating… We’ve been hiding a lot of things in a mass of boxes since the renovation so finding the decorations was a TASK… but finally found them and unpacked a few other boxes along the way. Decided to pop something to celebrate 🍷🍷🍷

WINE: Persan - Domaine Saint Germain - I got this bottle from my WSET3 homie Marissa … I love wines of the Savoie (Altesse, Jacquere) and rare varietals so she decided to educate me with Persan!

Persan is a SUPER rare red grape. It disappeared for decades &, allegedly, there are less than 70 acres planted in the world. This wine came from the source of the rebirth, the OG Persan vineyard - the Princes vineyard. I knew nothing of how this would taste but it ended up being the perfect holiday wine. It was bursting with bright, cranberry fruit. It had depth yet still felt light on the palate at 12% ABV…. It gave me Beaujolais/Valdiguie vibes. It paired quite well Truffle Goat Cheese topped butterflied chicken breasts. Was gonna stuff the chicken breast but decided it was too much for a week night 🤣 so left it open face. The goat cheese was the perfect counterbalance to the earthy truffle and mushroom flavors. All came together real nice like the decorations 🎅🏾 If you like chillable, medium bodied reds that are versatile for food pairing, this Persian is definitely worth trying. Also, if you’re in LA, check out Día Natural Wine for the DOPE juice 🍷

TRACK: Christmas Time - - A Christmas classic 🎄 used to always send me “Christmas beats” during the holidays and a couple years ago I took the bait. The holidays can be tough so this track is a reminder that the greatest gift is time. The best present is the present 🎁

THREE HILLS PINOT NOIR VIBES - When you’re supposed to be putting up Christmas decorations but you just wanna pour up something dope & VIBE

WINE: - Three Hills Pinot Noir - Pinot Noir is the one I pour up when I just wanna chill because it elevates the ordinary to extraordinary… This one did that from the first sip - a bright burst of red fruit (cherry, cranberry) with baking spice notes made it the perfect wine for the holidays & that finish… The juicy, concentrated fruit gave way to fine tannins and a SILKY finish. This one is dangerously smooth. A great expression of the beauty of Carneros fruit. for sure.

TRACK: Unhinged - - Smoothest outro of the year… This one floats and gets you pushing repeat soon as it’s over. Similar to this wine, each sip leads you to the next one.
