Well, we have come out the other end of the storm and the pumpkin patch is draining and drying! As you can see, during and immediately after the heaviest rainfall, our lowest sections were underwater, pumpkins set sail on a glassy sea. This level of flooding is perfectly ordinary in January, but it is absolutely extraordinary for a single storm in October. The photo on the lower right shows how much things have drained already by this morning.
So… we are opening up this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and we hope you will come out and support us if you haven’t picked up your Halloween carving pumpkins yet or could use a pantry restock of winter squash or decorative gourds for Thanksgiving. We had to close last weekend entirely and could use your support now!
We have many good, beautiful carving pumpkins still in the upper part of the field and we will also be bringing some more bins of pumpkins and winter squash up from our storage barn where they were kept cozy and dry.
We plan to have a drive through station set up for those who want to quickly grab some pumpkins/squash/gourds and move along. And for those who want to search in the field, bring your mud boots and rain pants!
