Alberto Rafanelli, an Italian immigrant, first founded A. He settled in the Healdsburg area with his family and started growing grapes and making award winning wine. After prohibition, Alberto’s son Americo showed interest in the family business and was soon carrying on the tradition. He moved the winery to the Dry Creek Valley in the early 1950’s. It was here that he began to farm his Zinfandel a

nd raise his family. Although it wasn’t until the early 70’s that he came out with the present day label and started to sell his wine commercially. Since then, Americo’s son David, and his wife Patty own and operate the business. The winery is now in it’s fourth generation of growing grapes and making wine in the heart of Dry Creek Valley. Dave RafanelliAll family owned and operated A. Rafanelli specializes in Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The small rustic winery sits on a knoll overlooking the valley and is surrounded by some of its hillside vineyards. Production is 11,000 cases annually and there are approximately 85 acres planted to various varieties. Tasting and purchases are by appointment only, and all the wine is sold direct. The family prides itself in quality not quantity and believes in traditional winemaking practices. Shelley in VineyardsRashell (Shelly), the eldest daughter, is the winemaker. She graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 1996 with a degree in Agricultural Business. Since then she has taken over all production at the winery. With the help of her husband Craig Fehlman, who manages all of their vineyards, they hope to carry on the family tradition, and keep improving the wines. Shelly’s sister, Stacy, is in charge of daily operations at the winery.

If you know, you know… this isn’t just a tasting, it’s a place to stay awhile. 🍷

A walk through the vineyards. A quiet moment by the pond. A glass in hand and nowhere particular to be.

At A. Rafanelli Winery, we believe the experience is about more than what's in the glass. It's about connecting with the land, the people, and the place that has shaped our wines for generations.

We’re already nearly three weeks ahead in the vineyard. 🍇

Head winemaker Shelly Rafanelli is seeing an early season unfold in Dry Creek Valley after a warm winter and spring moved everything forward faster than usual.

Right now, the work is all about the small decisions that shape the vintage later on. Opening up the fruit zone for more sunlight, more airflow, and watching the vines closely as the season takes shape day by day.

The crop looks lighter so far, but sometimes that’s where the best flavor comes from.

Watch the Reel to hear Shelly’s early thoughts on the 2026 vintage.

This is your sign to open the good bottle. 🍷

Our 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon was made for evenings gathered around the table, especially alongside something warm and rustic like an heirloom tomato galette fresh from the oven.

Layers of black cherry, ripe plum, spice, and fine oak unfold slowly in the glass, with the kind of balance and structure that keeps you going back for another sip. It’s bold, but never overpowering. Thoughtful, steady, and unmistakably Dry Creek Valley.

Four generations later, we still believe the best wines are the ones shared with good food and people you never want rushing out the door.

A mark that stands for generations of craftsmanship and care. Behind every bottle is a legacy shaped slowly, deliberately, and always with the land in mind.

If you know, you know. And if you don’t, it’s time to experience it.

There’s something magical about the vineyards right now.

Each day brings more growth—the vines quietly transforming overnight. It’s not dramatic, but it’s constant. You can feel it if you slow down enough to notice.

Walking these rows is a reminder that progress shows up daily, even in the smallest ways. A little more today than yesterday, and a little more tomorrow than today.

Same rows, different story…2025 vs 2026 — and this season is already sprinting ahead.
Stronger growth, fuller canopies, and a head start we’re not taking for granted.
Nature set the pace… we’re just keeping up.

Our 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon is a true expression of Dry Creek Valley, rich, structured, and built to linger long after the last sip. A bottle that speaks to tradition, craftsmanship, and the moments worth slowing down for.

Whether you are opening it tonight or saving it for a special occasion, this is the kind of wine that makes any table feel complete.

Secure your bottles while they last. 🍷
