Our at home brunch game is getting strong. Fried potatoes with rosemary, onion and garlic. Fried farm eggs from our hens. Pork chops we brined last night in cloves, maple syrup, garlic, salt, rosemary and Mendocino mustard. Pesto (Helena’s calling it “yard sauce”) made from leftover celery and carrot tops, garlic, walnuts and olive oil from our yard, and white balsamic vinegar. Who is coming over?

Grandpa: “Wine is meant to be drunk. We’re not collectors.” Apparently we are sometimes because last night was one for the books. 1987 Hambrecht Vineyards (I think Grist Vineyard) Cab I’m guessing made. 1998 Gary Farrell Anderson Valley (now Goldeneye) Pinot. Very cool drinking some California history and both wines held up impeccably.
