Harvest begins long before the first cluster reaches the cellar. In July, our vineyard team worked through the blocks removing select leaves from around the Zinfandel clusters, opening the canopy to let in morning light and airflow as the fruit moved through veraison, the stage when berries soften and shift from green to deep shades of red and purple.

It is careful, measured work. Zinfandel ripens unevenly within a single cluster, so every decision in the vineyard was carefully considered. The team is continuing to watch each block more frequently, watching color, flavor, acidity, and the development of skins and seeds. Every pass brings the 2026 vintage a little closer. 🌿🍇
