Tongue Dancer Wines

Tongue Dancer Wines All intellectual whimsy comes from our hearts, our heads, and always after we drink a bottle of this stuff! I do it for the sheer love of the Burgundy grape.

In my 29+ years of tinkering (yes, you could call it that) with the Burgundy grape, I’ve come to love and appreciate the subtle nuances, such as texture, taste, weight and movement that it imparts in the glass and on the palate. So, while I was making wine for my brand ‘MacPhail Family Wines’, I was getting offers from amazing vineyards that I couldn’t pass up. ‘Tongue Dancer Wines’ came about as

a result of these relationship and amazing fruit. After a bit of alchemy and intuition, I have learned how to let this fruit guide me and carry me through its process, and the result is a wine with heightened aromatics and intense flavors. The wine is rich, has texture, and carries weight – all of which I refer to has having great “mouth-feel”. Yes, making wine this way demands more focus, and each lot is always touched with as much attention and fervor as the next one. We end up with something that is lush and luxurious, and meant to be just a great bottle of wine. I’ve been in this business for almost 30 years, and those who know me well can say I am a bit obsessive and passionate about what I do – and what I do is make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. I am committed to it. I am practicing what I try to teach my daughters, and that is follow – and trust – your gut, and let your passions be your guide. It is with the understanding that although I am a simple man, my desires run deep, and I simply want to keep exploring the wine’s depth and breadth. It’s this visceral desire that inspired my wife and I to embark on this leg of our wine-journey. This is not an arrogant expression of mastery, as I am the forever-student with the vines as my teacher. Why “Tongue Dancer Wines”? We wanted to create an image of taste - and as hard as that is sometimes, we think this label captures what we’re trying to convey. This wine will surely dance on your tongue. To family and good friends, " ~ James MacPhail

Thank you, , for luvin' this wine!

Stop the presses, spring/summer 2026 just got better. Tongue Dancer Wines (TDW) has introduced a new rosé, and it’s magnificent. “The Sly One,” a cheeky moniker from TDW, has previously been used for select Pinots and Chardonnays, but now the family has expanded it to rosé as well. It’s also their first rosé from Anderson Valley and hopefully not their last — it’s that good. Like all of their rosé wines, it’s made with 100% Pinot Noir and uses the saignée method — a winemaking technique of “bleeding off” a portion of juice after a brief period of skin contact (just six to eight hours in this case). We have been smitten with TDW’s Pinots from Anderson Valley, so when a rosé from this appellation arrived, we had high expectations, and these expectations were exceeded. It’s truly one of the finest rosé wines that we have ever tasted.

We are thrilled to welcome an incredible lineup of rockstar winemakers to this year’s Bacigalupi Vineyard Designate Tasting Event "Meet the Makers Seminar"

This unique seminar-style tasting will showcase 12 wines crafted from Bacigalupi Vineyard grapes, each made by a different winemaker. The result is a rare opportunity to experience how individual winemaking philosophies shape wines from the same vineyard.

Together, we'll explore the critical decisions that influence a wine's character, including vineyard blocks, clones, soil composition, fermentation choices, barrel programs, aging techniques, and more.

We're also proud to support Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area with a portion of ticket sales and proceeds from the silent auction benefiting this incredible organization and the life-changing work they do.

Space is limited and this event is expected to sell out.

Saturday, July 18th from 11am-2pm
Grand Cru Custom Crush 1200 American Way, Windsor
Ticket price includes wine seminar and lunch to follow

This is Geoff Bedrogian. He and his wife Marla are the owners of 'Vineyard eleven' Vineyard here in Russian River. They are the stewards of the land that grows amazing grapes - for us, as well as for their own brand (below). If you get the chance to visit them at their tasting room, you'll love it. They are both wonderful people who truly care about what they do.

We are grateful for our relationship with them.
