Athena Vineyards and Winery Athena Vineyards was established in 2002 by three nurses: Ada Jacox, PhD; Carol Spengler, PhD; and Ruth Harris, PhD.

We enjoy healthy lifestyles, working in the vineyard and the finer things in life. Our interest in winemaking led to the construction of our winery in 2005. Athena has become the first commercial vineyard and winery in Northumberland County, Virginia. Visit our tasting room and share our warm hospitality in a beautiful vineyard setting. Our vineyards overlook the Great Wicomico River with 40 acres

of over a 20 varieties of grapes. Not far from the Chesapeake Bay, we embrace the lifestyle of the area - crabs, rockfish and oysters are common in the region. Our wines have received accolades from many National and International competitive wine judging contests -judge for yourself. The micorclimate influences from the Rappahannock River and Chesapeake Bay, along with our sand-loam soil composition, create the viticulture distinctions. Visit us to enjoy these flavors and aromas found in each of our handcrafted wines.
