We have Nubian kids each spring/summer that will be available to those who are interested. We do usually have an overflow of that sweet Nubian milk available to others for purchase once the kids are weaned and sold starting in the late spring/early summer. hase. As for our kids, we are very picky about what goats we keep here on the farm. We insist on full Nubian bloodlines although, for many reasons, we do not choose to jump through the hoops to register them. All the breeding dams we have in our small herd are full Nubian. Our focus for all of them, as well as the bucks we use as sires, is the ability to produce a good quantity of sweet, yummy milk. Also very important to us is a good mothering instinct (all our kids are dam raised and handled by us daily), parasite resistance, overall hardiness, ability to kid unassisted, and a good temperament. We don't breed bullies or divas here. We have a closed herd that is as naturally kept as possible. For this reason, we do not run tests or medicate regularly - only if health indicates a need. We also do not disbud our kids so they are all left naturally horned. Our goats forage and free-range on our 15 acres of mixed pasture, woods, and brushland and are grained only minimally as needed. All kids are dam-raised and we really don't like to wean them earlier than 10-12 weeks. We usually sell all of the kids each year at that time.
** this year, 2022, is an exception though, as we have a phenomenal crop of kids. Of course, we adore their mothers... and we were particularly fond of the beautiful buck who sired them so we will be keeping a couple of the doelings this spring.
