True! Puppies are born with their eyes and ears closed. Their eyes usually begin opening around 10–14 days of age, and their hearing develops shortly afterward.

During those first few weeks, puppies rely heavily on their sense of touch and smell to find their mother and littermates.

Every cat has their own personality when it comes to affection.

Some love being held, some tolerate it for a few seconds, and others prefer to keep all four paws firmly on the ground. Paying attention to your cat's body language is the best way to know when they're comfortable.

So...which answer best describes your cat? Tell us your answer in the comments!

For most dogs, nail trims are needed every 3–4 weeks, but the ideal schedule depends on how quickly their nails grow and how much they naturally wear them down.

If you hear your dog's nails clicking on the floor, it's usually a sign they're ready for a trim. Keeping nails at a healthy length helps prevent discomfort, joint strain, and broken nails.

Need help with nail care? Give us a call at (501) 270-6757.

- Staff Appreciation Sunday❤️🐾

Today we want to recognize Machelle for the incredible heart, dedication, and compassion she brings to Mountain Top Veterinary Clinic every single day. Whether she is helping on farm calls, caring for large animals, or getting down on the floor to comfort a sick pup, she always gives her time and effort with kindness and a true passion for helping animals.

Machelle’s willingness to learn, step in wherever she is needed, and provide care to both patients and families does not go unnoticed. She brings a positive attitude, a caring heart, and a level of dedication that makes a difference every day.

As she starts school this month to continue her journey toward becoming a veterinary technician, we couldn’t be more proud of her. We know her compassion, hard work, and love for animals will continue to guide her as she reaches this goal.

Thank you, Machelle, for being such an important part of our Mountain Top family. We are grateful for all you do and excited to watch you grow in this next chapter. ❤️🐾

Almost never. Cats don't have accidents to "get back at" their owners.

Instead, they're usually trying to tell us something is wrong. Common causes include:
🚽 Urinary tract infections
🪨 Bladder stones
😿 Stress or anxiety
🦴 Arthritis or pain
🧹 Litter box issues

A cat that repeatedly goes in and out of the litter box, strains to urinate, or produces little to no urine could have a urinary blockage, a life-threatening emergency, especially in male cats. If your cat suddenly stops using the litter box, don't punish them. Schedule a veterinary visit to find the underlying cause.

Cats are actually crepuscular, which means they're naturally most active at dawn and dusk. Those early morning zoomies and evening bursts of energy are completely normal. If your cat is keeping you awake at night, try scheduling interactive play sessions before bedtime followed by a small meal. This can help satisfy their hunting instincts and encourage a longer night's sleep.

Does your cat wake you up before your alarm? Tell us in the comments!

If you have questions about your cat's behavior, give us a call at (501) 270-6757.

Yes. Biting is a normal part of kitten development. Kittens use play to learn about their environment and develop bite inhibition. While it may not feel very gentle, this is an important part of growing up.

The best approach is to redirect biting toward appropriate toys and avoid encouraging play with your hands or fingers.

With consistency and patience, most kittens outgrow this stage and learn to play more gently. If you have questions about your kitten's behavior, we're happy to help. Call us at (501) 270-6757.
