Today marks two years since FarmBoy Farms got started with Black Angus cattle, and what a rewarding journey it has been so far. We had to doublecheck that it’s only been two years because it feels much longer than that! This video is the first 5 pairs that were delivered to our farm, exactly two years ago to the day.

We’re proud of the progress we’ve made in such a short amount of time and excited about the future of this herd. From the calves hitting the ground to watching the cows develop into productive females, it’s been a journey full of lessons, growth, and rewarding moments.

Thank you to everyone who has supported FarmBoy Farms these last two years. We’re looking forward to many more years of raising quality Black Angus cattle and continuing to improve with every generation.

Meet Cupid — one of the standout bull calves here at FarmBoy Farms who was born on Valentine’s Day out of a first calf heifer.

One thing that’s always been important to us is temperament. We’re around our cattle every single day, and we believe good cattle should not only perform well, but also be easy to handle and calm both out in the pasture and in stressful situations. Docility matters a great deal to us. They all aren’t pets and nor do they need to be, but attitude problems simply aren’t tolerated within our herd.

Cupid has already shown the kind of disposition we strive for — quiet, easygoing, and respectful while still being a powerful, good-looking calf with a bright future ahead of him. We take a lot of pride in building a herd that combines quality genetics with practical, functional traits that make life easier for both cattle and cattlemen.

We’re excited to watch this young bull continue to grow and develop!

Big day here at FarmBoy Farms — we added THREE new cow/calf pairs and one bred heifer to the herd today! We’re excited about the quality and potential these females bring to our program and the future of our genetics.

This 803 is a beaut to look at. She is without a doubt one of the prettiest females in the pasture. She’s everything you want in a mature cow — structurally sound in her feet and legs, top notch udder and teat quality, deep bodied, moderately framed, and the kind that raises easy fleshing calves year after year. She has a heifer calf alongside her right now. Cows like her are the foundation of a strong cow herd, and we’re proud to have her here.

Looking forward to watching these cows and calves continue to develop and contribute to the future of FarmBoy Farms!

Big news here at FarmBoy Farms! We’ve added another outstanding cow/calf pair to the herd!

This young cow brings with her an exceptional pedigree, sired by a Tehama Tahoe son and out of a dam who is an OCC Paxton daughter. That kind of unique lineage doesn’t come around every day, and it’s something we’re excited about.

She has all the makings of a foundational female for our program, with the genetics to move our herd forward in a big way. When you combine proven bloodlines like these with strong maternal potential, the future looks bright.

Even more exciting, her heifer calf is sired by a proven bull known for producing well-rounded, high-quality females — adding another layer of confidence in the future of this pair.

We’re looking forward to watching them develop and seeing the impact they’ll have on our herd for years to come. Stay tuned, the best is yet to come!

FarmBoy Farms in Hebron has been a local egg supplier for quite some time now. We raise Leghorn chickens for the best quality eggs around. Farm fresh. Our girls are well taken care of. They're well fed and watered, twice a day and they have a huge coop/run that I built them over 5 years ago. They can also free range but over all they love their coop/run.
Our eggs are sold by the tray. We sell 30 eggs for $15 if you'd like to get on Christine Sawvell customer egg list, please contact her. Or if you just want to stop by the farm please do so, just message Ray Jr Sawvell first and he'll meet you at the main house.

Did you know the average gestation period for a cow is 283 days? Back on June 4th, we turned our bull Bo out to pasture with the rest of his girls, hoping he’d get right to work. Fast forward 283 days, and today we welcomed two brand new calves from two of our first-calf heifers!

There’s something pretty amazing about watching nature work right on schedule. These young mamas did a great job bringing their calves into the world, completely unassisted, and both calves are up and doing well. One bull calf weighing 78 pounds and one heifer calf weighing 66 pounds.

Bo wasted no time getting to work last summer! Good boy, Bo.

What an eventful day here at FarmBoy Farms. It started off with feeding our bottle calf, 603. Then came new ear tags for some of our newer cows. Some of our cow calf pairs were then sorted out of pens and were sent out to pasture. Six heifers were sorted into their pens to get ready to have their calves.

Bo and a few of his girls, who are not due for a few months, were rotated into our “new pasture”, which is about 10 acres. This was done so the cow calf pairs could roam our “old pasture” to recover from their births with their calves at their side. They’ll be ready to be bred back for a late April-Early May 2027 calving!

Our day ended with an unassisted birth out of a first calf heifer. She picked a great day to have a beautiful bull calf! She is the third heifer out of 8 to have a calf for us this calving season. Mama and calf are doing great, bunkered down for the night in one of our shelters. We are waiting on 4 cows to have their calves, the first being due early April, last being due mid June.

We welcomed two more babies to our farm. 48 hours old

While most people were celebrating with flowers and chocolates last night, we were out in one of our pens welcoming a brand new life into the world.

On Valentine’s Day, one of our first-calf heifers gave birth to a beautiful 64-pound bull calf. Being her first time, she needed a little extra help — and that’s part of the responsibility and privilege of raising cattle. Sometimes these mamas just need a steady hand, a watchful eye, and someone willing to step in when things get tough.

There’s something truly incredible about the birthing process. It’s raw. It’s real. It’s powerful. Watching that calf take his first breath, lift his head, and eventually find his footing will never get old. No matter how many calves we’ve helped bring into this world, it’s always a reminder of why we love doing what we do.

These animals depend on us in ways that go beyond feed and fencing. Even if they don’t realize it all the time, they trust us to be there when it matters most — and we don’t take that lightly. Helping that young heifer through delivery and seeing her instinctively step into motherhood afterward was something special.

Valentine’s Day is about love — and we felt it this year. ❤️

Welcome to the world, Cupid. We’re glad to have you here.

One heifer down, 10 more to go!
