When we went to check everyone last night Little Joey greeted us by the fence 🤦‍♀️ I even made sure they had delicious hay in the barn so they would stay inside but nope they wanted to be out in the storm I guess

A Prayer Before the Storm

Tonight, we ask for protection in the wind and rain.
For the storm to lose some of its strength,
for the skies to calm
and pass quickly over this land.

Watch over the animals tucked into barns and shelters,
the quiet breaths in stalls and coops,
the ones who trust us without words.
Keep them safe where our hands can’t reach.

Bless the fences, the roofs, the gates we latched tight.
Bless the shelters standing against the wind.
Bless the tired hands that checked everything one more time,
and the hearts that won’t rest until morning.

We’ve done what we can.
Now we place the rest in Your care.

Carry us through the long night,
and let the morning come calm and clear.

I’ve had a few people reach out and ask if the shed thing I put up is still standing. Yes it is. Thankfully I put those tposts in just in time for that wild wind we had.

Help me with this one… I haven’t used this water hydrant since last summer and our well is shut off when I’m not filling other tanks with different hydrants. It looks cool but I’m super confused on how it happened

They are calling for strong winds and the new temp shed needed tied down. I decided to put some TPosts in. The second post was harder because of the amount of frost in the ground but I got it done. Fingers crossed this keeps it safe this evening.

As it comes time for this group of cattle to go in I can’t help but feel more attached to them than the ones in the past. When Mark passed last year i was scared i would fail. So I asked someone if I should continue raising beef he asked me “do you like it?” I replied “I actually love it” Then he said “then why wouldn’t you?” That’s exactly what I needed to hear. This herd has taught me a lot this past year. The time that I spent with them learning how to do everything has been a challenge but it’s been worth it. Im proud of how many familys that we are still able to supply quality beef to. Thank you to everyone that helped me with them or answered my questions about how to do something.

Little calves were moved to the winter pasture today. We had to fix the fence and make it hot but that didn’t take too long. Now they have a shelter and access to water that will have a tank heater. Of course this little heifer found a bunch of burrs right away

Moved these guys this morning. They are currently on a 4 day rotation.

I’m going to start working on contacting people on the wait list next week. Message me if you want on that list 🙌
