For nearly 50 years, I have been growing sweet cherries with my family, and every season brings its own challenges. This year has been especially difficult, with three damaging frost events followed by periods of excessive wet weather and dry conditions. Despite all of these obstacles, we have managed to hold on to what appears to be a small but promising crop. We are working hard every day to protect and nurture these cherries, and we look forward to opening our orchard and sharing the fruits of our labor with you.

So at this point with temps in mid 30s this becomes an insulator- but if temps drop we are in serious trouble 🍒

It’s always fun planning your spray schedule to protect the cherries from the up coming cold when it’s snowing out 🤦🏻‍♂️ We have a couple bad days of cold coming we need to get through we’ll keep you posted 🍒🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The warm spell came early, coaxing the cherry trees into bloom days ahead of their time. Pale blossoms spread across the orchard like a promise the farmer didn't trust. He'd seen this before-beauty arriving too soon.
Each night he checked the forecast, watching for that one word: frost. It lingered in the back of his mind like a shadow, threatening to turn all that white into nothing overnight.
He walked the rows at dusk, hands in his pockets, eyes on the sky, knowing it wouldn't take much-a single cold snap—to wipe out the crop he'd been counting on 🍒

I was coming home one day when I notice a man on the side of the road with an easel painting the beautiful Seneca Lake sunset. Last night a friend of mine showed me the finished painting. The gentleman’s name is Brian Keeler (his paintings will be on show March 20th at the West End Gallery in Corning NY through April 23rd) He was gracious enough to let me share this with you guys - his work is absolutely amazing 🤗
