Hi everyone! This is the official A-MART page & our first A-MART post to Facebook. The only other post from us is on Instagram

There have been a number of posts made by individuals across different platforms including Reddit and Facebook referencing A-MART. These posts were not us. We haven’t posted or engaged anywhere beyond our official accounts yet. We would, though, like to specifically address a post that was made to a Helena Classifieds group yesterday. We were able to get the post taken down since we did not anticipate that photos taken by an individual during a wifi install at the store would be used in a Marketplace post that also contained harmful language.
In their post, the individual used an unacceptable term when referring to Asian communities. Generalizations of this kind directly harm and mischaracterize Asian identities. We are disheartened to see ignorant usage of racist terminology. We do not accept ignorance or any form of hate in our place of business.
We hope that A-MART can be a place of cross-cultural learning, sharing familiar favorites & learning about food respectfully and earnestly.
In addition, this individual spread misinformation in the post, commenting that we had lived in South Korea (which is false, although theoretically would've been great!). Instead, we recently returned from a trip to South Korea where we were able to pack some things back.
Some real information is that one of the owners grew up in Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭 and also lived in Ehime-ken, Japan during high school 🇯🇵
We'd be open to sharing more of our story here at some point, if there's interest, but rn we're focused on establishing a local supply of beloved East and Southeast Asian food for everyone to enjoy. We'll be finishing stocking up our shelves very soon.
We're stoked and grateful to bring these staple Asian groceries (and snacks) to Helena, and can't wait to see you at A-MART for our soft opening on May 15th.
