Gryphon's Meadow Apiary & Farm Gryphon's Meadow is a small apiary and farm in Jefferson County, Wisconsin. Currently, we keep bees and chickens.

We sell raw local honey and pasture-raised eggs (subject to availability) from a stand in our driveway or by appointment.

This year's batch of meat chickens. We went with Freedom Rangers and haven't lost a single one! They are fat and happy out in the chicken tractor. We move them every two days at this age so they have fresh grass. When they get a little larger we're moving half of them to the second tractor so they have more space.

Have you ever wondered what a chick looks like just before hatching? I had to help two of our chicks hatch yesterday (marans can have trouble hatching due to a very thick outer membrane) so I assisted, then put them back into the incubator like this to finish hatching. These eggs were pipped but had no activity for 24 hours, and it was two days after the rest of the clutch started hatching.

The mobile chicken tractor is finally DONE, much to Gregg's relief. Wheels are on, roost bar is mounted, and we added a shelf for the water bucket, hung two feeders, and the 8-week old chicks are moved from the tent in the garage into the bright sunshine and green grass.

The fancy blue copper marans eggs started hatching today! Out of the dozen eggs, two were non-fertile (candled clear) and of the remaining ten, seven have hatched and two more are pipped. SUPER CUTE chicks, they look like little fuzzy penguins!
