It seems that my post yesterday has ruffled. A few feathers with certain vendors at farmers markets. So let me just try to clear up what I was saying. If you're a farmer that's wonderful, if you wanna be a wholesaler, that's also great too. The whole point of the conversation and post was that vendors being 100% transparent. And honest with the customers
If you wholesale, don't hide it own it. Explain to the customers why you are buying and reselling products? Customers should have the right to know exactly where the produce. They are purchasing, comes from
That is my only concern. Like I said, transparency, if the tomatoes are Amish grown put on The Sign Amish grown. If you are producing produce out of your home and own garden, put that up there and be proud of it. Unfortunately, some people were offended by my comments. And yes, I seem to do that a lot. But by no means, was I trying to persecute anybody reselling vegetables again. Just want the customers to know the truth and have the option of where they buy their stuff from. And no who grew it

It's a shame to go down to the downtown Saginaw farmers market and see that they allow people to wholesale produce. And pass it off as their own. And this isn't the only market that allows this too go on Just a reminder when you're at the farmer's market. Especially this time of year and you see people with watermelons, sweet corn, tomatoes, cucumbers that's a 100% sure sign of a wholesaler In some cases, the vendors don't even take the plastic off the vegetables. Just trying to pass it off as their own. I bring this up because I feel it is fraud to the customers. Customers come to the farmer's market to talk to actual farmers. To know where their produce was grown. But instead, we keep seeing more and more people trying to claim that they have a farm. And going out and picking up cases of tomatoes in cucumbers in passing 'em off as as homegrown. and now the new thing you'll see these people telling you that they are the subsidize crops or their courtesy crops. So you don't have to go to the big box retailer. Well, honestly, there's no difference between going to Meijer or going to the farmer's market and picking up stuff from the wholesalers just remember, people do your homework doesn't matter if you go to the farmer's market or to somebody with a roadside stand they could be trying to pull the sheet.l over your eyes. I know there are some farmers that do grow things in the greenhouse and do have a limited supply starting. But remember, people, those are few and far in between. When you start seeing the wax boxes, piled up behind the table. Always know what you're getting yourself into.
