Bur Oaks Farm's new year has unfolded with triumph, joyous celebrations, and delightful surprises. The 2026 cria season brings the farm its first two vibrant crias. Snowmass Kiss Me Kate, bred to Snowmass Enchanted Wave, welcomed the enchanting Enchanted Vinicio amidst a chilly 19-degree weather, proving that love knows no bounds. We're deeply grateful to Susanne Bienenstock of Little Creek Farm for gifting us this extraordinary breeding opportunity. Linden Hills Melody, paired with TP Absolutely Elite, has given us a stunning white male, radiating hope and promise. It truly took a village to bring this precious life into the world, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Rhonda Deschner, Chuck Lisenbee, Zane Haider, and the exceptional team at Texas A&M Large Animal Hospital for their unwavering expertise in safely delivering this little miracle. Stay tuned for more updates in March!!

Bur Oaks Farm achieved good success at the 2025 A-OK Blast Off and Rock Rose Alpaca Shows for the first time, competing in halter, walking fleece, and fleece classes with positive results. Bur Oaks Playboy's Roseo and Polar Devine excelled in the show rings, securing first and/or second places in their respective classes. Snowmass Kiss Me Kate earned an advanced fleece award with a score exceeding 80, a testament to the farm's rapidly advancing genetics and promising future. Cheering on friends at the show and visiting with old and new friends was a highlight.

Bur Oaks Farm is delighted to announce the arrival of a new member to the herd. I proudly introduce Polar Devine, a remarkable female offspring of Polar Serenity and Marvelous Oblivion, embodying the excellence of Accoyo America Polar Storm's and Snowmass Oblivion’s lineage. My gratitude goes to Lynn and Susanne for their invaluable support and mentorship.

Bur Oaks Farm hosted several visitors over the last two weekends. They came near and far to help with chores to include herd health, cooling the alpacas during our warmish Texas weather and seeing the farm gardens. We also had the pleasure of having Felder Rushing, a well-known and truly one-of-kind garden expert visit us. He and his partner were invited to Hempstead to speak to our local master gardeners and community. Felder mixed his famous southern wit and wisdom with hard science about pleasing yourself, following your bliss and savoring everything one does in their gardens. What a joy to have all our visitors share the love of the animals and gardens.

Bur Oaks Farm hosted students from Community Christian Academy School. The young people were engaging and enthusiastic learning about alpacas. They responded to alpaca fun facts, how to walk with the animals, their fiber characteristics, and what products are made from the fiber. Susan Kingsbury, Kickapoo Alpacas and Yolanda Moore, farm helper added value to their education. Our time flew by making memories. Come see our farm and learn about the alpaca industry.

We are back home from the TxOlan Alpaca Show in Witchita Falls, Texas. Opened the 3 fleece bags and found to our amazement 3 ribbons. Two second place ribbons from Snowmass Polar Serenity and Kiss Me Kate fleeces and third place for Kickapoo’s Anya. Sunday, Sundown Surprise placed first in huacaya white juvenile male for small breeders. It was a great experience for me and Sundown. Meet new friends and got reacquainted with others. Look forward to next year’s event. Thank you to the TxOlan show committee and board.
