Not the best pictures but definitely the best pair.
When we purchased Rafter Y’s Scarlett a couple of years ago, we had big hopes for her in the donor pen. Scarlett had a wonderful show career and is structurally amazing, but her biggest defining quality is her maternal drive. SG Violet was unfortunately abandoned by her mother and was being bottle raised for a couple of weeks; when Scarlett’s calf passed. So what else would Scarlett do with her free time other then take on this little baby in need. Now they are like two peas in a pod and obsessed with each other. This might have been the easiest calf grafting I’ve ever been a part of. No fuss or fight from Scarlett, she just walked in the pen and claimed her new baby. She is the definition of a stellar cow that deserves to her genetics carried on for generations. She has now become one of our foundation females as we work on our embryo journey. We wish females like this can fill everyone’s donor pens.
