Last night we had a second kidding. My favorite girl had twin doe but unfortunately one did not make it.
This was an accidental pregnancy with a determined buck that escaped his pen. After several conversations with friends and our vet, we took into consideration how far along she was and let the pregnancy continue with monitoring.
I went inside for an hour and feed my human kids and came out to check on the other doe that had quads just prior.
I heard a gush and looked over to see the second kid being born. Then I saw the first laying on the ground, still covered in the sack and goopy. I immediately started working on her while yelling for Zach. He took over while I tended to the second kid. Unfortunately, after much effort, we were not able to revive her.
The second kid is doing great this morning and mom has a little healing to do from what appears to be a rough kidding.
Our hearts are heavy with two losses in the same day. But we are thankful for two healthy moms and their remaining kids. 💔♥️
Kid count as of now: 8D 4B
