Continuing our Filipino Month adventure 🇵🇭—we visited Mang Felix on Maryland Parkway, right in the heart of Vegas’ Filipino community.

Walking in felt like home—lively, welcoming, and full of that classic Filipino gathering vibe.

We ordered some favorites: chicken lumpia, sisig, and adobosilog—which completely stole the show. The rich, savory adobo with garlic rice and egg was so good we’d come back just for that.

Fast, attentive service and a great overall experience. Definitely one for the books—we’ll be back! ✨

It’s Filipino Food Month!

To celebrate, we’re starting a little tradition — trying a Filipino restaurant every week, and this week we kicked it off with Casa de Empanada.

And WOW… what a way to start!

We ordered the Ultimate Silog Combo Meal, where you get to choose 2 proteins (we picked crispy pork belly chicharron and pork tapa), plus 5 pcs of lumpiang shanghai, garlic fried rice, 2 sunny side up eggs, house-made pickled papaya, and sweet spicy vinegar. Every bite was fire!

Of course, we couldn’t skip the empanadas — we got 6 flavors:
- Chicken chipotle
- Pork dinuguan
- Beef, onion & cheese
- Carne Norte con patatas
- Adobo sa dilaw
- Roasted pork

And for drinks — refreshing calamansi juice + cucumber lemonade.

Everything was SO GOOD. Like seriously… we were so impressed and genuinely happy after this meal. Highly, highly recommend!

What we loved even more — everything is made fresh. Just a heads up:
*Fried empanadas take about 15 minutes.
*Baked ones take about 20 minutes.

But trust me… WORTH. THE. WAIT.

Honestly, the food was so good we wouldn’t even mind standing and eating.

Special shoutout to the team — they were so warm and accommodating, going table to table to check on guests and chat. That personal touch made the experience even better.

Only thing to note: the space is a bit small - 4 high tables (2 seats each) indoors.

So maybe not ideal for big groups — but definitely perfect for a cozy, delicious food trip.

Overall: Amazing food, great service, and definitely worth coming back for.

Stay tuned for next week’s Filipino food adventure!

Love is in the air, beyond compare — and it smells like steak everywhere.

This Valentine’s Day, we celebrated at High Steaks, Chef James Trees’ newest restaurant located on the 50th floor of the Rio Hotel & Casino — and what a night it was.

We booked a month in advance and counted down the days watching foodie reviews. From the moment we checked in downstairs to stepping off the elevator to those stunning Vegas skyline views, the experience felt special.

The Valentine-themed photo booth overlooking the city was such a fun touch — and the staff even helped us take photos.

For drinks, we started with the High Steaks Old Fashioned — rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced — and the Penicillin, smoky with a bright citrus kick. Both were great starters as well as well priced for a steakhouse at $16 per drink unlike the typical $22 from the Strip.

The pastrami-glazed bacon appetizer was thick, smoky, sweet, and packed with flavor. For our entrées, we ordered the ribeye and the bison, both cooked medium rare. The ribeye was juicy and beautifully marbled, while the bison truly impressed us — tender, flavorful, and not gamey at all. Paired with crispy French fries, it was steakhouse perfection.

And dessert? The key lime doughnuts with coconut ice cream were tangy, sweet, and absolutely worth saving room for.

The highlight of the night — we got to meet Chef James Trees! He was kind, humble, and took time to thank us for spending our evening there. A perfect ending to a perfect date night.

High Steaks definitely made our hearts skip this Valentine’s Day. Definitely an unforgettable evening filled with love, laughter and the kind of food that steals your heart.

Christmas staycation called for something special! We checked into Fontainebleau and headed straight to The Washing Potato for dinner.

From the moment we walked in, it felt like a club-meets-culinary stage—party vibes. We kicked things off with shumai (a good bite) and soft, plump char siu bao filled with sweet, savory pork.

Mains? Beef chow fun with tender beef and chewy noodles, plus a ½ Peking duck that absolutely delivered—crispy skin, tender meat, and perfect with pancakes, cucumbers, scallions, and sauce. Every bite was a hit.

All in all, a feast for the eyes, ears, and palate. A Chinatown glow-up with top-tier vibes and service.

As we prep for the holidays, we finally made it to the insta-famous Kyuramen. Our first try had us at #49 in line, so we came back two days later—and it was worth it.

Stepping inside felt like being transported to Japan. The warm woodwork, honeycomb details, and thoughtfully designed space made every angle stunning.

We kicked things off with spicy chili dumplings, pork belly bao, and chicken bao, then moved on to the main event—ramen. We ordered the Yin Yang B Ramen (Tonkotsu Shoyu + Sapporo Miso) and the Katsuobushi Pork Ramen, paired with passion fruit and grapefruit fruit teas from the t-baar.

The Yin Yang B was a jackpot—two distinct, deeply flavorful broths in one divided bowl, topped with tempura shrimp, pork belly, and zucchini skewers. The Katsuobushi Pork Ramen was rich, smoky, and savory with a gentle hint of spice, layered with corn, bamboo shoots, tender pork belly, and nori.

Kyuramen did not disappoint. We can’t wait to come back and try more!

We headed to Green Valley Resort just in time for Cantina Tequila’s 11:30 am opening - and made sure we were first in line! We came for the bold Mexican-American flavors and stayed for the vibrant pink vibes, friendly staff, and ultra-Instagrammable setup.

We were wary welcome by their staff who were very patient and understanding. They made sure we embraced the aesthetics, the music and their food.

Flower lovers will adore the dreamy ceiling florals - think soft peonies, garden roses, and baby’s breath. Our cozy booth gave us the perfect view of the spacious bar, decked out in velvet stools, neon signs, and rows of tequila bottles.

Another corner features eye-catching wall art - including an iconic mural of Walter Mercado—while the outdoor patio offers al fresco dining (watch out for that Henderson heat!). Even the restrooms are a whole experience with Pedro Pascal and Charo-themed stalls and voiceovers!

We loved the complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were seasoned well and were complemented by the smoky salsa with a subtle hint of spice. Our drinks - the old fashioned and tamarind and peach margaritas were good. The elote, Caesar salad with chicharron, and our lineup of tasty tacos—gringo, fish, shrimp, carnitas, and steak had their unique flavor profiles that packed a punch and left us satisfied. No room for dessert, but definitely there’swe were room for another round of drinks.

Between the food, the aesthetic, and the amazing staff, we had a blast—and we’ll definitely be back!

On our recent road trip from Medford to Portland, Oregon, we made a memorable lunch stop in Salem with our friends Matt and Reia. Nestled in a lively university town filled with eclectic shops and eateries, The Easy Otter stood out as a must-try spot—and it did not disappoint.

From the moment we stepped inside, the cozy yet quirky ambiance caught our eye. The ceiling was playfully dotted with umbrellas, and the walls featured charming otter artwork that added to the fun and welcoming vibe.

The menu offered a variety of tempting options and interesting names. From the Hey, Wha’ Happened (Nashville hot-style) sandwich to the Neds 5 Alarm Chicken & Waffle to the crispy chicken and fries to the flavorful Finger Fantasy (Southern fried chicken tenders) and to the It's Chowdah (smoked salmon chowder with puff pastry on the side), every dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly prepared. Even the sides of fries and fried pickles did not disappoint. The drink selection was equally impressive, with unique house-made beverages and a solid lineup of local beers.

But the star of the meal? The dessert. We indulged in a batch of warm, fluffy Berry White and Good God, Lemon! beignets. Of the two, the lemon-filled beignet quickly became everyone’s favorite.

Dining at The Easy Otter was a delightful surprise on our journey, and we’re already looking forward to returning—not just to try more of their menu, but to explore more of what Salem has to offer.

We were so excited to check out Netflix Bites, and when our friend Marjorie was in town, it was the perfect opportunity to give it a go. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with an inviting and vibrant entrance that set the tone for the experience. The ambiance was playful and contemporary, giving off a fun, Netflix-inspired vibe, with sleek decor and wall art celebrating the streaming platform’s iconic shows.

The servers were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. We started off with some of the classics. First, the WWE Smash Burger. The patty was thick, juicy, and perfectly crisped on the edges. With melted cheese, fresh veggies, and a tangy special sauce all sandwiched in a perfectly toasted bun. The fries on the side was good enough to share because the burger Itself was filling.

Next up was the Best Breakfast Ever. This hearty dish came with scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, a side of golden hash browns, and a finely cooked sausage patty. It was comfort food for those who enjoy breakfast any time of the day.

We also tried the Mexican BC: Fish Taco. The fish was seasoned right and lightly battered, paired with tangy slaw and a spicy salsa that gave iit a kick and an elote on the side. It would have been great to get more than three tacos on that plate.

For drinks, we shared the Luffy at Sea, which was a fun, refreshing cocktail that was perfect for two - or even more! It had a tropical flair with hints of pineapple and coconut, making it a great complement to the savory dishes. It was light and sweet, but not too sugary. It was a fun distraction to find the gummy sharks that came with It.

One of us had the Streaming Optimism— a cocktail crafted with Butterfly Peaflower-infused Absolut vodka, Absolut Raspberri vodka, Luxardo Maraschino, vanilla simple syrup, and citric malic acid. It was a smooth and zesty concoction that had just the right amount of citrusy zing.

Before we left, we passed by the space where the Netflix memorabilia they displayed props and artworks derived from their shows. It was intriguing, and we wanted more to add to our Immersive experience.

Our Netflix Bites experience was pleasant, but what made it special was the catch-up with our friend. There’s something magical about enjoying a meal with people you love. We still have some more interesting dishes to try, so we will be back for round two!

Shang Artisan Noodle on Maryland Parkway was a place we were eagerly planning to visit, and we were thrilled to finally try it out before February came to an end. From the moment we walked in, we felt right at home. The server welcomed us and escorted us to our table, and the restaurant had that homey Asian feel as it was accented with the complementing wooden wall decors and the wooden and ceramic condiment containers and utensils. Having prepared for this visit, we knew exactly what we wanted to try.

We kicked things off with the spicy wontons, a perfect balance of heat and savory flavors that left us excited for what was to come. For the main courses, we chose two standout noodle dishes. The ShĂ ng Beef Noodle with the hand pulled noodles featured beef brisket paired with perfectly cooked noodles and a rich, beef broth that had great depth of flavor. The Dan-Dan Noodles were equally impressive, with chewy, knife-cut noodles dressed in a savory, spicy sauce, complemented by a topping of minced pork and preserved veggies with spicy soy sauce, creating a combo of flavors that was simply irresistible.

The food was exceptional, and we can’t wait to taste more of what’s on their menu. It’s no surprise that we’re already looking forward to going back for another round of these delicious dishes!

Chinese + Mexican food has a good ring to it for foodies like us who are looking for unique takes on different dishes. So, when our friends Brian and Jill recommended China Poblano we were totally up for it and excited to give it a try!

After weeks of planning on when to go back to the strip, we finally had the chance after watching Potted Potter. We trudged from the Horseshoe to the Bellagio to see the latest display at the Conservatory and Botanical Gardens to our last stop, dinner at China Poblano.

China Poblano by José Andrés offers an inventive take on traditional Chinese and Mexican dishes, like their dim sum and tacos. We were a bit early and had to wait a while to be seated. We were then escorted inside, and the place was packed. We were also entertained by the colorful aesthetics inside, a combo of Mexican and Chinese decors and colors.

We knew by heart what we wanted to get, specifically targeting in on several of the restaurant's Chinese items. We started with the Rou Jia Mo (Chinese street sandwich with red-braised pork belly, cilantro and green onions stuffed into a house-made naan style bread), Har Gow (6pc Translucent Cantonese dumpling, pork belly and shrimp filling), When Pigs Fly (4pc Delicate steamed buns, Chinese barbecue pork), and we then had the Dan Dan Mien (José’s take on an original Chinese street classic: hand-cut wheat noodles with a rich Szechuan ground pork sauce, toasted peanuts, cilantro and chile pequin, finished with Chinkiang vinegar) and Char Siu for You (Cantonese-style barbecue pork ribs, marinated seasonal vegetables, green onion) for our mains. The portions were just right for us, not feeling it’s not enough or too much, and the food was delicious.

We had a great night at China Poblano discovering the vibrant flavors of their Chinese food, and we can't wait to be back to try out the Mexican dishes on the menu!
