Big Creek Distillery was another amazing visit! The Ponder's were happy to show us around their operations, from grain grinding to storage to rack rooms. It was very helpful. The industry as a whole is so welcoming and willing share insights!

Barbara and John spent Spring break traveling around to different distilleries. We started at North Georgia Still Company in Dahlonega. There they looked at several options for our stills and settled on ordering a table top prototyping still. This smaller still is so we can develop new flavors and new products.

Andrew and Jeff Warneke were so kind and welcoming. They also happened to be fellow great dane lovers! We had a great time and appreciate the time they took to help us pick out the right still to help us grow our business.

Piney Woods Distillery's Origin Story - Part 7

Barbara and her daughter Jessica were at a motorcycle event drinking Peach Moonshine purchased while there. They started talking about the peach cobbler recipe they perfected in the 10 years of running the peach orchard. One of them said if we could bottle our peach cobbler recipe into moonshine, wow! we would really have something. And the idea of opening a distillery in the old peach barn was born.

Piney Woods Distillery's Origin Story - Part 6

Barbara worked full-time as a single mother to her first daughter Bridget, and later earned her Mechanical Engineering degree from The University of Tennessee after the birth of her second daughter Jessica. She and her 2 daughters moved to East Texas where she and her husband bought a peach farm and with the peach orchard came her third daughter Sara. Her engineering career flourished but the peach farm is where this adventure all started.

Piney Woods Distillery's Origin Story - Part 5

Barb has always been an excellent cook, having learned from the best, and delights in having all of her kids, grandkids, and extended family over where she cooks large meals where everyone eats until they can’t breathe and goes back for just a little more, because they just can’t resist.
