Our senior Chihuahuas....first photo is of Evii Lynn (Ev-ee not Eve-e) aka Pea Pod, this morning. She has a heart murmur and is in stage 3/4 heart and kidney failure but we give her medications so she can keep a quality of life. She was diagnosed in summer 2022. If you met her you would not know it. She is so dainty, quiet and so sweet. We have 4 Chihuahuas (had to put one down She was so bad) that came from same house that had never had ANY vet care, nails curled around twice, ears full of big black chunks, terrible teeth, one with a luxating patella and the one we had to put down was skin and bones, no fur and could not walk. It was sickening. Evii got away and was found on the road in April 2021. We pulled her from shelter April 14, 2021. April 21, 2022 animal Control picked up the other 4 from same house. Of course I was going to pull Evii's family to reunite them and make sure they got all the vet care I knew they would need. Their nails were curled twice, black chunks came out of ears, bad teeth, one who lost most all hair which is now growing back now she is getting good nutrition. Pippa (larger red one is healthiest of all because she is younger approx 8, Biscuit is red/white, who also has a heart murmur plus a luxating patella, his has no use of one of his back legs, Luna is the black/white with fur growing back who has progressive collapsing trachea. We believe her to be around 8 yo as well. Everyone of them are so sweet. They just want to love love love! We took them to Cumberland Falls Resort to our family reunion last September and they did so well travelling. They have also been camping with us. Evii started camping with us a week after she came to the sanctuary and is a pro at it now and loves every time we have the chance to go which is not much. They had never had vet care before but have had an abundance of vet care, good nutrition, medications and TONS OF LOVE since coming to CHFS!
