Our senior Chihuahuas....first photo is of Evii Lynn (Ev-ee not Eve-e) aka Pea Pod, this morning. She has a heart murmur and is in stage 3/4 heart and kidney failure but we give her medications so she can keep a quality of life. She was diagnosed in summer 2022. If you met her you would not know it. She is so dainty, quiet and so sweet. We have 4 Chihuahuas (had to put one down She was so bad) that came from same house that had never had ANY vet care, nails curled around twice, ears full of big black chunks, terrible teeth, one with a luxating patella and the one we had to put down was skin and bones, no fur and could not walk. It was sickening. Evii got away and was found on the road in April 2021. We pulled her from shelter April 14, 2021. April 21, 2022 animal Control picked up the other 4 from same house. Of course I was going to pull Evii's family to reunite them and make sure they got all the vet care I knew they would need. Their nails were curled twice, black chunks came out of ears, bad teeth, one who lost most all hair which is now growing back now she is getting good nutrition. Pippa (larger red one is healthiest of all because she is younger approx 8, Biscuit is red/white, who also has a heart murmur plus a luxating patella, his has no use of one of his back legs, Luna is the black/white with fur growing back who has progressive collapsing trachea. We believe her to be around 8 yo as well. Everyone of them are so sweet. They just want to love love love! We took them to Cumberland Falls Resort to our family reunion last September and they did so well travelling. They have also been camping with us. Evii started camping with us a week after she came to the sanctuary and is a pro at it now and loves every time we have the chance to go which is not much. They had never had vet care before but have had an abundance of vet care, good nutrition, medications and TONS OF LOVE since coming to CHFS!

UP FOR ADOPTION TO INDOOR ONLY HOME!!! Adelaide (Addie) & Abel, 4 year old, spayed & neutered, actual brother and sister. We call them the Christmas kittens because we found them on Christmas evening 2013 when a bad winter storm was blowing in. They are super sweet cats that LOVE TO LOVE YOU! They are both great with dogs (of all sizes), cats and kids. Addie actually thinks our Border Collie/Aussie is her Mom. We would love these two to go together but they could be separated. Adoption fee is $30.00 each or if a home takes together $45 for both. There is an application, home visit and contract. Please send a personal message with your email if you would like an application and a phone number. (Disclaimer: Rescues do not adopt to homes with unaltered domestic animals unless there is a medical reason, including age, determined to be detrimental to the health of the animal that has been diagnosed by a licensed vet) By: Stacey McCord-Crooks, Founder/President

Topher went to vet again today. He is still running 104 fever and now sick for 9 days. Dr. Shirel changed him to a different antibiotic hoping that will work better and kill infection. I am having to syringe water several times a day and sometimes SubQ fluids as well. He is eating good so he has only lost about a pound. If this round doesn't work we will have to test him for Feline FIV/Lukemia which can cause immune system to be compromised. Please send up PRAYERS that sweet Topher doesn't have it because if he does we will lose him. Anyone that would like to help with the mounting medical bills for Topher can donate directly to Union County Animal Clinic in Morganfield KY, 270-389-3834, by donation/paypal link on website www.cheyhebe.org or by check to PO Box 25, Corydon, KY 42406.
