Farm update: We are safe. The farm didn’t do too well though. Mud creek reached historic flooding heights and we never expected the farm building to flood as badly as it did.
As of right now, we are not operational and are doing our best to clean up the mess. Tractors were submerged, high tunnels flattened from the weight of the water and some with trees on top, a tree fell on our greenhouse, fields completely covered with mud, and while we the farm building is still standing, it was in pretty bad shape after flooding 2/3 of the way.
While most things can be replaced and repaired, this catastrophic disaster really surprised most of us here in the area. The moisture that lingered and brought on inches of rain just days prior to Hurricane Helene, along with intense wind gusts made last week one for the books.
We’re doing our best to clean up, but could use some hands on Friday 10/4. Fenner has been doing most of the clean up so anything helps.
