Got the chickens in the freezer over the weekend. We tried out the new chicken plucker and home made kill cone. They both worked out great especially on the trailer set up. After 7 hours of work and an over night brine, we ended up putting 128 lbs of meat in the freezer.

It's been a stressful couple of weeks, but we always have the zen of our garden to help relax us. The grapes πŸ‡ are filling in beautiful, and setting up for quite a bit of fruit. The fruit garden looks amazing and is producing close to a pound of strawberries πŸ“ a day. The raspberries are starting to set up some fruit, and are filling in wonderfully. Apple trees are growing fast looking definitely looking forward to harvesting apples 🍎 one day. We got the new garden bed turned and ready for all the tomato πŸ… and pepper 🌢 seedling to get planted next week. We also have an extreme amount of carrot flowers, carrots πŸ₯• will be a borderline plague next go around.

Had a busy canning weekend on the farm ended up with 35 quarts of beef bone broth, 36 quarts of pork bone broth, and ten pints of carrots. Will definitely be having another canning weekend figuring that was only half the bones that we have saved from butcher season. We also started cutting the herb garden again and got it all straightened up and looking good again. Thanks you to every one that came over and landed a hand. Also thanks for helping me learn how to get over my fear of the pressure canner. Lol

It's definitely spring the grapes woke up the red globe has alot of grapes developing especially for only being in the ground for 2 years. The strawberries πŸ“ and apple trees are doing fantastic. The potatoes are starting to flower looking forward to harvesting those in a couple months. Also had a morning dove move into the grape trellis and she had three babies hatch this week.

Had a fantastic weekend thank you to everyone who came and landed a hand with the last of the pigs and the last large animal butcher of the year. Everything went so smoothly this season thanks to all of you. This pig brought in 183 lbs of deboned pork, three cases of rendered lard, and more bones in the freezer to process.

It's finally spring and the garden is showing it. Starting to see signs of life coming back in the garden. The apples gave us the first blossoms of the season, the strawberries are also starting to flowering again, and the potatoes are beging to sprout. Started some new seeds for the garden and of course the cucumbers came up first. Still waiting on all the peppers and cooking herbs. Also decided to try some of the TPS (true potatoes seeds) that I saved from last year.

Happy spring equinox everyone.
