Deering W Lazy F Ranch - Pat and Frankie Deering, Gary and Jessica Deering
Two year old, Simmental Angus Cross Bulls will be a Philip Bull Day, May 2, 2017. Our mission is to utilize the very best Simmental and Angus genetics to develop highly maternal, powerful, functional, and most importantly profitable cattle. Simmental/Angus crossbred to maximize the best of both breeds into one convenient p
ackage, to ease crossbreeding decisions, and reap the benefits that heterosis gives you. We have anywhere from 45%-90% Angus to offer this year, giving you the opportunity to balance where you would like to see your percent Angus be maintained. These, two year old bulls, are the top performers, and about a fourth of what we started with in the fall of 2015. We are very strict about the bulls we keep and bulls are banded and sent to the feedlot for not only under performing, but also for poor disposition, low scrotal measurement, and eye appeal. All black bulls were tested homozygous black through Zoetis Genetics, ensuring that your calves will be just a black as any straight Angus bull. All bulls passed semen/breeding test last spring and will be tested again this spring. All bulls are, not only themselves, out of proven AI sires, but their dams are also, and many bulls come from multiple generations of proven AI sires. We use bulls that are proven for multiple traits:
1: Birth weight and Calving Ease: we calve in big pastures, and cannot afford difficult births.
2.Growth: Pounds in the ring has always brought the biggest paycheck. On November 16, 2015, we weaned our mid to late April born bulls off of our cows, and they averaged 700 pounds!
3. Carcass: At different times we feed our calves, and realize the tight margins that exist in the feeding sector. Our calves have not only been proven to grow when they hit the feedlot, but also grade well when they hit the rail.
4. Maternal: We want to raise bulls that will have daughters that are as efficient and better than our cows currently are. Our cows are not pampered, and are required to produce calves year after year after being wintered on range and receiving, at times, very little supplementation. Our cows are very efficient, and raise powerhouse calves, and I believe can be profitable anywhere.
