Hermann, we know you’ve been asking. 👀
And while we’re not quite ready to tell you everything about 4th Street Cellars, we can tell you this:
This one is close to our hearts.

It’s being created with the character of Hermann in mind—and with a lot of thought about the people who make this community what it is.

A place to gather. A place to linger. And something that feels distinctly at home on 4th Street.
We’ve been listening to your questions, your ideas, and yes… even your guesses.

You won’t have to wait too much longer. 🍷

For now, consider this your official reminder to keep an eye on 4th Street.

Thank you, MO Wine Couple, for championing Missouri wine, supporting so many of us, and helping spread the word about what makes Missouri wine country so special.

There’s a reason we grow the grapes we grow. 🍇

Making wine in Missouri has never been about trying to imitate another wine region. Our climate, soils and seasons have shaped a wine culture—and grape varieties—of our own.

That includes Norton, an American grape with deep roots in Missouri wine history, and French-American hybrids like Vignoles and Chambourcin, varieties well suited to growing conditions very different from those of traditional European wine regions.

And those American roots have had an impact far beyond Missouri. In the 1800s, American grape rootstocks helped European vineyards recover from the devastating phylloxera epidemic—one of the defining moments in modern wine history.

Adam Puchta Winery was already here, making wine in Hermann, as that chapter of American wine history was unfolding.

We began in 1855, and nearly 170 years later, we’re still working with grapes that tell the story of where they’re grown.

Not California wine. Not European wine. Missouri wine.

And we think that distinction is worth celebrating. 🍷

More from harvest at Adam Puchta Winery. 🍇

Local vines. The Hermann AVA. Grapes to glass.

But what goes into every bottle is so much more—history, art, terroir, long hours, and a whole lot of hard work.

Right now, we’re in the thick of harvest. Early mornings, late nights, little sleep, and countless hours in the vineyard and cellar—all to bring the best of this place to your glass.

A huge thank you to our vineyard crews for the dedication and hustle that make it all happen. We couldn’t do it without you.

This is harvest. This is Missouri wine. This is Adam Puchta. 🍷

🍽️ Good wine deserves good food.

At the 1855 Cellar Bistro, every dish is prepared fresh and made to order using thoughtfully selected ingredients and local partnerships whenever possible.

One of those partnerships is with Marble Ridge Farms, whose locally raised Wagyu beef brings exceptional flavor and quality to the table.

It's a simple philosophy:

great wine,

fresh ingredients,

and food worth slowing down for.

Whether you're joining us for lunch, sharing a bottle with friends, or making a day of your visit to Hermann, we invite you to experience the 1855 Cellar Bistro where every dish is crafted with the same care that goes into every bottle.

🍷 Because some of the best winery memories are made over good food and wine.
