Today, we finished harvesting Norton grapes at our Kemperberg Vineyard. All that remains this vintage is hand harvesting at Cross J Vineyard and at the small vineyard in front of the w**ery. The Norton grapes are looking and tasting great so far, so we are very excited to work with them in the cellar. We’re nearing the harvest season finish line now!

There’s nothing quite like discovering a local treasure that makes Hermann so special. In this week’s spotlight, we’re visiting Saleigh Mountain Leather Co., a mother and daughter-owned business with a history dating back to 1973 with Sally’s leather bags. From handcrafted leather goods to shoe repair, the shop is filled with decades of craftsmanship, family history and plenty of stories to tell.

A look behind-the-scenes inside the cellar: we’re barreling down Catawba into a puncheon, where it will finish fermentation and continue to mature.

Harvest is well on its way! We’ve just hand picked a very important block of grapes, our Old Vine Reserve Norton vines. These vines were planted in 1863 and continue to produce fruit almost every year! 2026 gave us some great fruit from the second oldest vineyard in America!

We’re very excited about our 2026 Chambourcin. It’s about halfway through its fermentation now, with pump overs used to keep integrating the skins back into the fermenting w**e so that we can continue extracting flavor, color, and texture from them. It should turn into a great w**e!

A little white grape in the red w**e? It’s intentional. We’re experimenting with a small-lot co-fermentation, combining Norton with a touch of Vidal Blanc to create a more lifted and expressive aromatic profile. Stay tuned for the finished w**e.
