STAND CLOSED TOMORROW (8/29)

Phew, what a summer! It’s been a minute since I’ve done a Bright Family Update - you’ll have to forgive me, I’m functioning on one brain cell 🤪😂

First things first, the stand will be closed tomorrow! We just got home from an end of summer road trip to CO and we’re pooped!!! Jason needed to head out there for work and we had the opportunity to tag along with him! We have family that live in the area, so the kiddos were able to hang out with aunts, uncles and cousins and see actual mountains for the first time - it was a great way to wrap up the summer! ⛰️🚐

Our youngest has recently gotten a new safety bed and it has been a GAME CHANGER! His smart, sneeky little self did manage to escape out of it once, but we remedied that and now we take a big breath when he sleeps. We also only had one ED visit with him this past year (🤞🏻) and considering we were frequent flyers there for a while, once in year is quite the accomplishment!!

The big 3 have had a very busy summer! All those blueberries at the stand, those were picked by them! They earned money by doing it and got to see the fruits of their labor (pun intended 🫐😉)! They’ve been such big helpers with tending to both gardens and the chickens! They love picking a fresh tomato or carrot and taking a big bite!

Speaking of chickens…we have 65 meat birds that will be ready for butchering around the 1st week in October! They’re delicious, so if you’re interested in one or more, let us know so we can get your order in!! We also became the new owners of 25 new laying hens courtesy of our friends at The Frozen Nort Farm. The girls needed a new home and we were so happy to bring them to meet our girls (and boys, turkeys & guineas) and bring you all more eggs to the stand now! Hopefully our chicks from this year will start laying around November and then it will really be an egg explosion! 🐔🥚💥

We’re all looking forward to the start of a new school year though!! Not quite sure who’s more exited though - the kiddos or myself!! 😂🤪

It’s blueberry season!!! 🫐

The entire family has been hard at work picking this last week - we may or may not have snacked on quite a few in the process 😬😂

We have zucchini at the stand today too as well as all the regular goodies! Come check it out! Happy Saturday!

Bread is back baby!! The fridge is stocked and the ovens are ready to get to work in the morning! 🍞

You may have noticed a slow increase in price over the last few weeks and that is because we have gradually been switching everything over to organic. We will soon be 100% organic and the pricing will reflect that!

If you’re curious, we purchase our ingredients in bulk from Azure Standard and have been incredibly happy with them and their products!

We hope you all are staying cool and healthy! 😷

We’ve made the executive decision to not have any bread or granola at the stand tomorrow - it’s just going to be too hot! 🥵

I’m sure we’re like many of you and don’t have AC, so the way we keep the house cool is opening the windows at night and closing them during the day. Well, starting very early on Saturday mornings our ovens are on and going and that heat doesn’t go away!! Our youngest’s room is right off the kitchen too and poor little man doesn’t need it any toastier in there during his nap time either!

Thank you for your understanding!

On the *bright* (😉) side, our blueberries and raspberries are doing soooooo well and it will be a berry explosion very soon!!!

We’re going to be open tomorrow! We will have hamburger and hot dog buns and some other goodies to help kick off your 4th of July weekend!

We will still have our regular hours/goodies on Saturday too, we just thought it might be nice to have a little extra something to help celebrate America’s 250th! 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙🎇

It has certainly been a very few busy weeks here at the farm!

Building a second garden and getting it planted has by far taken the most time and energy, but it will be very exciting once we see the fruits of our labor! We now have the ‘bee’ garden (where the 2 hives are) and the ‘chicken’ garden. We had to give them names so Jason and I wouldn’t get them confused! The new one is named the chicken garden because we built a chicken tunnel around it for the fencing - it gives the girls some protected (coyotes have gotten a few of our girls 😭) outside time and will hopefully keep the bugs down!

Our youngest has recently learned to walk and is a man on the MOVE!! It is an amazing accomplishment for him, but one thing he hasn’t quite figured out is personal safety. This could also be simply because he’s a boy and not just because he has special needs. 😂 He has a QUICK bear crawl and he’ll make his way down to the pond, or up the ladder on the playground and head first down the slide in the first 3 seconds you take your eyes off of him; it’s wonderfully exhausting!!

At this point, I could write a novel about life, but to make it a bit easier I can place the story in the photo caption! Happy July FIRST!!
