It is with deep sorrow that our family announces
Frederick Arthur Richards Sr., 87, passed peacefully from this life at the farm on September 24, 2025.
He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.
Fred was born on September 11, 1938 in Hartford, CT by Ernest and Gertrude (Chandler) Richards. He grew up on their family farm in Lebanon, CT and milked their cows by hand!
Fred graduated from from Lyman Memorial High School in 1956. He worked at Pratt and Whitney for a few years and married Barbara E. (Cranick) on October 15, 1960
Fred and Barb started Faber Farms in 1961 with registered Holstein cattle. They rented two tiestall farms in Franklin, CT and then in Salisbury, CT before settling in Hermon, ME in 1973
Fred received various awards over the years for dairy farming and milk production which illustrated his dedication to his community by producing top-quality milk.
Fred’s hobbies included baking, woodworking, gardening and listening to bluegrass music.
Fred is survived by his
Wife-Barbara, Two children-Gwendolyn Dekoschak and
Fred Richards Jr.
Grandchildren-Sarah (Brian) Keene, Devon (Byron) Ouellette,
Stephen (Hannah)Dekoschak, Elizabeth (Charlie) Berry and Frederick (Stephanie) Richards III
And Great grandchildren-
Riley Keene, Elizabeth Keene, Madison Scott, Charlie Berry IV and Durham Ouellette
Fred is also survived by his brother David Richards
And preceded in death by his sister Beatrice Lussier and parents
