🌾Evenings on the Farm🌾

Some of the best evenings on the farm simply unfold.

During a recent stay, we met an ER nurse and her partner, an anesthesiologist. We enjoyed walking 'n talking with them, and they invited us to their campsite to share some peace, conversation and music.

She played her guitar and sang for us while we visited, making for a beautiful and memorable evening.

Those are the moments we’ll remember long after our guests have gone home—and one of the reasons we love sharing Dancing Phoenix Farm with others.

🍎 New for Campers: Homemade Freeze-Dried Fruit Treats!

🍑 A Light & Delicious Snack for Your Adventure

We're excited to offer a new treat exclusively for our camping guests—homemade freeze-dried fruit packs!

Prepared right here on the farm, our freeze-dried fruits are made in small batches using simple ingredients. They're light, naturally flavorful, and make the perfect snack to enjoy while relaxing at your campsite, exploring the Badlands, or taking a scenic drive through the Black Hills.

Current favorites include apples, cherries, and peaches, with additional fruits becoming available throughout the season.

Our freeze-dried fruit is available in 1-ounce packages for $8 each. Since every batch is prepared in advance and quantities are limited, we ask that guests request their preferred fruit before their camping trip so we can have it ready upon arrival.

We're always looking for little ways to make your stay at Dancing Phoenix Farm even more enjoyable, and we hope these homemade treats add a little extra sweetness to your adventure.

We look forward to sharing them with you!

🌾 A New Season at Dancing Phoenix Farm: Creating a Peaceful Prairie Retreat Near the Black Hills and Badlands

When we started welcoming guests to Dancing Phoenix Farm, our vision was simple: create a place where people could slow down, reconnect with nature, and experience the quiet beauty of the South Dakota prairie.

Over time, we’ve continued refining that vision—not by becoming a bigger campground, but by staying intentionally small.

With only two accommodations on 40 peaceful acres, we are creating a different kind of getaway: one focused on open skies, quiet evenings, wildlife, and the simple joy of having room to breathe.

Located near Badlands National Park, the Black Hills, Mount Rushmore, and Custer State Park, Dancing Phoenix Farm offers a peaceful home base for exploring some of South Dakota’s most iconic destinations.

After a day of adventure, guests can return to wide-open prairie views, spectacular sunsets, incredible sunrises, and some of the darkest skies in the area for unforgettable stargazing.

Our two accommodations offer different ways to experience the property:

🌾 ARTAX Campsite provides a peaceful tent, camper, and RV-friendly prairie setting for guests who enjoy the outdoors, open space, and sleeping beneath the stars.
🏡 BADLANDS BUNKHOUSE offers comfort for those who prefer a cozy indoor retreat, while still enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the prairie.

Because we intentionally limit our number of guests, Dancing Phoenix Farm feels very different from a traditional campground. Our goal is not to offer rows of campsites and constant activity, but rather a quiet, respectful place where guests can enjoy nature, wildlife, and the landscape around them.

We also recognize that the best experiences come from clear expectations. Our accommodations are located near one another, making them a wonderful option for families, friends, and groups traveling together who want different lodging styles. When booked separately, guests may occasionally see or hear others nearby—but we work hard to maintain a peaceful atmosphere where everyone can enjoy their own experience.

As a working farm, the land continues to be the heart of what we share. Guests may see deer, coyotes, birds, and other prairie wildlife while enjoying the trails, views, and open skies.

We ask everyone to help us care for this special place by respecting the land, wildlife, and neighboring properties.

Whether you’re visiting the Black Hills, exploring Badlands National Park, photographing the prairie skies, or simply looking for a quiet place to rest and recharge, we hope Dancing Phoenix Farm becomes part of your South Dakota adventure.

One of the best parts of being camp hosts is meeting genuinely kind people.

During one stay, we met a surgeon and his lovely partner, and he took the time to do a quick exam on our Makai, as she navigates doggy dementia, then asked if their pup could have a playdate with her. Seeing them playing together brought a lot of smiles around camp.

It's little moments like that that remind us this place is about more than campsites—it's about good people, and the connections made along the way.

Thank you!☺
