Oats and peas are in the ground and off to a good start 🌱🐑
This mix should make some high-quality baleage for the sheep!! Just a waiting game now!

We will be mowing some small grains later this week.

Well… talk about a roller coaster that actually paid off!!

After everything back in November falling apart with the semen not showing up, to come back and have it go this right is unreal.

Last Tuesday couldn’t have gone much better—breeding 6200982018H8012A and commercial ewe 1125 bred to Freking 6201072025002651. Even with all the doubt and the teaser never marking, just adds to the story. Everyone saying it wasn’t right… and then boom—results prove otherwise.

8012A absolutely crushed it—31 embryos with 26 transferable is just crazy good.
And 1125… just doing what she always does. 20 embryos and all 20 transferable—that ewe doesn’t miss.

We ended up with more embryos than recip ewes, so we froze 16 embryos to use this fall—which is a pretty great problem to have.

Now it’s just the hardest part—waiting on that pregnancy scan.

Predicted EBVs on the 8012A x 2651 cross are below:

MWWT - 1.959
PWWT - 6.854
NLB - 39.2
NLW - 42
INDEX - 122.635

These should be some pretty ELITE lambs!

Wow—we haven’t made a post in a while, and it’s been busy around here!

We’ve lambed in September, November, January, and February—and now we’re starting the next group. Things don’t slow down much around here, and we’ve been getting a lot done:

• Rye fertilized
• Lime spread on a new farm we picked up
• Oats and peas planted
• Rams turned in for August lambs
• January ewes weaned and getting ready for • • • September breeding
•Sold Easter lambs
• New feed bin set up for finishing lambs
•Some EXCITING things happening in the next few weeks

And the real boss has been helping a lot around here and making sure everything is done her way!

And the list keeps going!

Last Friday we had the honor of helping our good friend Steve Breeding by supplying 20 of our ewe lambs to Penn Vet for vet students to have a lab and practice ultrasounding ewes. It was truly amazing to see all of those students so excited to do a live lab like that.
