Jake’s Farm Announces Closure While Launching New Venture, “Cone on the Go”
With heavy hearts—and more than a few tears—Jake’s Farm announces the official closure of its farm operations. After a series of difficult challenges and circumstances involving Horvath Honey and the Durango Farmers Market, the decision was made to step away from farming.
While this chapter comes to an end, it is not goodbye.
Jake’s Farm will continue offering its beloved shelf-stable products, including pickles, salsa, hot sauces, Cowboy Candy, jams, freeze-dried meals, fruits and candy. Customers can still find these favorites at the

At the same time, an exciting new chapter is beginning.
The Jake’s Farm is proud to introduce a food truck bringing bold, crave-worthy comfort food to festivals, markets, and events across the region. Cone on the Go features a fun, elevated menu centered around crispy, flavorful chicken and indulgent sides, including:

Here is the complaint Horvath Honey launched against us. This was allowed with no proof and she was allowed to remain anonymous., even after the DFM Board was notified she was spreading this around to customers and vendors. We proved All allegations to be false and she continued to spread these lies. The rules stated that we agreed no to go public until the complaint was finished. We received a letter from Anna the market manager in July that we were cleared of the false allegations. In November I posted on my personal private fb page that I found out who turned me in and named Francis and Emily Horvath. I was removed from the market with no discussion from the board. Breaking both the bylaws and the rules. It beyond wrong they chose not to follow the rules and do their job when dealing with Francis Horvath. Our poultry farm is now closed due to this targeted decision by the drm board. We are not the first vendor they have done this to, nor will we be the last.

Statement from Jake’s Farm

Due to the damage caused to our farm’s reputation and business by false allegations and rumors spread by Francis and Emily Horvath, as well as the Durango Farmers Market (DFM) Board of Directors’ failure to follow their own policies in addressing the situation, we regretfully announce that Jake’s Farm will no longer be able to continue regular operations as before.

Rather than following their established rules to address vendor disputes, the DFM Board chose to remove us from the market until Francis and Emily Horvath agreed to stop their complaints and sign a notarized statement allowing our return. Despite our efforts to resolve the matter and reach out directly to the Horvaths, they declined to meet and denied making the allegations—though DFM confirmed in writing that they were the source.

This has been a difficult decision, but as a small, local farm, being excluded from the community market has made it impossible to sustain our operations in the same way. Our mission has always been to bring high-quality local poultry and farm products to our community. As a licensed egg dealer, custom exempt butcher facility, and mobile retail business specializing in handmade sausages, we took pride in serving Durango and surrounding areas with transparency and care.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us throughout the years. We sincerely apologize for the loss this may represent to our community.

We will continue to offer limited meat supplies while they last, as well as our canned goods, freeze-dried products, concentrating on freeze-dried Meals and our new venture—Cone on the Go, featuring ready-to-eat meals.

Breakfast Enchiladas 🌯🍳

Ingredients & Cost

(4) Tortillas – $1.50

(8oz) Refried Beans – $1.00

(9oz) Chorizo – $1.50

(1) Large Potato – $1.00

(8oz) Jack Cheese – $2.00

(10oz) Red Enchilada Sauce – $2.00

(4) Eggs – $1.00

Optional: Sour Cream – $1.00 (add $0.25 per serving)

Total Cost: $10.00
Serves: 4 — $2.50 per serving 💰

Directions

1. Cook chorizo and diced potato until golden and cooked through.

2. Grate cheese and warm refried beans.

3. In a baking dish, layer:
🌯 Tortilla → Beans → Potatoes → Chorizo → Cheese → Sauce

4. Repeat 3 layers.

5. Top with a final tortilla, sauce, and cheese.

6. Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes — make sure cheese is melted throughout.

7. Top with fried or scrambled eggs before serving.

8. Optional: Add a dollop of sour cream for creamy perfection!

My favorite part about the off season is thst we have time to cook better meals. Jonathan and I are Really Good at making great meals. Some are super easy and not expensive. With people losing snap benefits I keep seing posts about struggle meals and many are kinda awful. Im going to start posting some easy inexpensive recipes that can be made on a budget. If you have a favorite meal please DM me and ill share your recipe
