To Our Customers, Friends, & Supporters
After proudly attending the Telluride Farmers Market for the past seven years, we are heartbroken to announce that Jakes Farm and Cone on the Go will no longer be participating.
Before we even began building our food truck, we spoke with market management in December about our plans. Based on those conversations, we committed our entire summer schedule to the Telluride Farmers Market, invested thousands of dollars into our trailer, paid our vendor fees, and built our business around attending.
After our first market, we were informed that our food truck did not fit the new manager's "vision" for the market.
We were also reported to the City over concerns about our power source. We use a propane-powered inverter. During a meeting with the advisory board, we were told we could continue attending and that access to electrical power might be an option if we rewired our trailer.
Believing there was a path forward, we spent additional money making those modifications. Later, we were informed we would not be given that opportunity and were ultimately told we were no longer welcome at the market.
We have never been told that we violated any market rule, and we have not been provided with a clear reason for our removal.
This decision has had a devastating impact on our small business. By the time this occurred, most summer markets and festivals had already filled their vendor spaces, leaving us with very few opportunities to replace the income we expected from Telluride. Its wrong on so many levels but knowing other vendors on the board made this decision makes it even more devastating. I hope they take the time to consider how they would feel if this was done to them.
To everyone who has supported us over the past seven years, thank you. Meeting and feeding our customers each Friday has been one of the highlights of our business, and we will miss seeing all of you.
While this chapter has ended in a way we never expected, we aren't giving up. We'll continue searching for new events and places to serve our community, and we hope to see you again soon.
Thank you for your continued support.
