Will Rogers, who was known as the "most trusted man in America" during the Great Depression, captured the absurdity of politics with this quip: "I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts." He famously summed up the endless material provided by Washington, saying: "There's no trick to being a humorist when you have the whole government working for you."
No, I am no Will Rogers; but I aspire to become a fraction of the American hero that he was. On that note, I am working on another poem after hearing Trumplethinskin bitch and moan, lie and misstate facts about our election integrity. Trump’s own Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency concluded in 2020 that the election that year “was the most secure in American history." The fear amongst pundits all along the political spectrum is that Trump is setting us up for some extra-democratic methods for the upcoming midterm elections, that his only choices, besides actually working for the good of the people, is to cheat or lose.
So I am inviting you to take part in my poetic mission, to watch the government and report the facts. And the basic theme is....

Election integrity?
Cheating is his
best bet
Trump is the threat.

Reworked the same theme. First try was a little too artsy, too obscure for my vehicular readership passing by.
Investors lost an estimated $3.8 billion on the $TRUMP memecoin alone which plummeted 98% from its peak of over $75 to roughly $1.65. Trump's other crypto project, World Liberty Financial, also fell over 82%
Trump Media reported a massive $405.9 million net loss in the first quarter of 2026 alone, dragging in less than $1 million in sales. Retail investors who bought into Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) are estimated to have lost around $7 billion.
And Trump, how does he describe his estimated $ 2 billion increase in his 2025 income?
"Well, you know why I'm profiting? Because the stock market's going up — everybody's profiting. Do you have a 401(k)? … So we're all profiting. I'm profiting because I have a lot of money and a lot of cash."

There's an authoritarian who's sure all that glitters is gold.
There is little absolute certainty in this life. It would be difficult to defend that anything or anyone is the absolute best of any genre, but if one was forced to pick the best rock song of all time, ooh, it doesn't make me wonder.

Greedy and overly optimistic, certainly two very valid descriptors for Trumplethinskin. I don't know if my majority Hispanic readership driving past will appreciate the reference to Zeppelin, but still, Trumps profit over $3 billion, and his supporting investors lose over $7 billion. It should make them wonder.

E pluribus unum. Out of many, one. A single, united nation from 13 distinct colonies. The United States of America. E pluribus unum also represents the diverse cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds that make up our great nation.
As we celebrate this milestone in our path towards a more perfect union, our ongoing aspiration to continuously improve the nation and strive for a better society, let us remember that variety is the spice of life. It takes all kinds to make a world. If your way is the only way, then it is the wrong way. Let us rejoice in the diversity of cultures, skin colors, hair styles, body shapes, belief systems, ethnic foods and drinks, clothing, ways of expressing our love. Wouldn't this world be a very boring place if everyone spoke, and acted and looked like you? Trust me. I know you. A world of just you would be really boring. Embracing diversity is a transformative force. May that force, this fourth, be with you. Become one with the many. E pluribus unum.

There are many costs to Trump's "short term excursion". There are direct costs to the US taxpayer:

There are the costs of our diminished role as a respected peace keeper, our ability to maintain a stable international order.
We are still digesting the text of the recently released MOU, Memorandum of Understanding, but my understanding is that Iran will not only be relieved of sanctions, and have all their
seized funds released, but that the US will guarantee the funds for a $300 billion dollar private investment fund.
Our own CIA doubts the good intentions of the now even more hardline Iranian leadership on the issue of nuclear material. To give this more fiercely empowered leadership 100's of billions of dollars to spend to rebuild, not only their infrastructure, but their military, their proxies; does not bode well for the region, the world, or the Iranian people

Not a cent ! No cents. Nonsense. Yes, this poem is nonsensical. How can something that won't cost us a cent, wind up costing us over $1 billion US tax dollars? To be fair, Trump said the ballroom would cost taxpayers "not one penny", citing private donations and his own funds. Carolyn Leavitt said ,"It's not going to cost taxpayers a dime." They are both correct. The ballroom will not cost one penny, nor one dime, but a billion dollars.

We lost? Come on, what did we really lose? No bombs fell on the good ol' USA. Well, we lost the lives of our military personnel. (Will we ever know the real #?). We lost billions of dollars, estimated at $1billion per day of munitions, plus the expensive jets and AWACS. We lost the use of 13 military bases. But even more expensive was our loss of the moral high ground, the respect of our allies and enemies, the respect of our own military personnel for our system of playing, fighting by the rules.
Dropping bombs on a children's school, a gymnasium, civilian infrastructure; threatening to wipe out a civilization, causing an international energy crisis, and then berating our allies for not cleaning up our mess. President Donald Trump has repeatedly claimed "total and complete victory" in the war with Iran, telling supporters that the conflict was won "in the first hour" and later declaring a ceasefire as a sign of complete victory.
Donald Trump has finally told the truth.
If this is victory, then yes, I am tired of winning.

Authoritarianism is unacceptable regardless of the flag, the language, the religion or the color of skin. Political plurality, diverse representation, multiple ideologies and interest groups are essential for functioning democracy and freedom of expression.
