As advocates for California agriculture, we're sharing an important alert from county officials.

Agricultural commissioners across multiple California counties have issued a public warning regarding Glassy-Winged Sharpshooter (GWSS) detected on grapevines sold at certain Costco locations.

GWSS is a serious invasive pest and vector of Pierce's Disease, which can devastate grapevines and damage almonds, citrus, and ornamental plants. Protecting California's growing regions is a responsibility we all share.

If you purchased grapevines from Costco between April 21–May 21, here's what officials are asking:
- Keep the plant isolated in its original container
- Do NOT plant, transport, or return it
- Seal in two trash bags — do not compost or trash it
- Contact the Sacramento County Ag Commissioner immediately:

A little BTS for your feed đź‘€

Take a look at our Ripon Greenhouse facility, where we have 24 acres (about 18 football fields) of thousands of plants! Here, our seasoned team takes great pride and care in growing our rootstocks and trees. These greenhouses are where many of our different roostocks and various varieties of fruit, nut, and shade plants get their start! If you'd purchased a Farmers Market Favorite - it came from this greenhouse!

By growing our hybrid almond rootstocks in a highly controlled greenhouse environment, we can deliver a tree with incredible uniformity that's ready to plant almost year-round.

We’re honored to be featured in Indiana Prairie Farmer’s May 2026 issue as part of the broader conversation around how agriculture is evolving through innovation, technology, and long-term thinking.

At Dave Wilson Nursery, modernization isn’t about replacing farming tradition, it’s about strengthening it. Under CEO Seana Day’s leadership, we’re helping connect an innovation mindset with the real-world challenges and opportunities facing specialty crop growers across the Central Valley and beyond.

From pioneering the first commercially successful self-fertile almond variety through our partnership with Zaiger Genetics, to supporting growers with new approaches to orchard efficiency, automation, and planting strategy, we believe the future of agriculture will belong to operations that successfully blend genetics, technology, and practical field knowledge.

The next generation of farming will still be built on relationships and stewardship, but increasingly informed by data, precision, and smarter systems designed for long-term resilience.

🍑 The Secret to Perfect Peaches in Warm Climates! 🍑

If you’ve ever been told it’s "too warm" to grow juicy, melt-in-your-mouth peaches in your area, we have some great news for you. Meet Eva’s Pride—the gold standard for low-chill peach trees!

Specifically bred for areas with mild winters (like Southern California or the Gulf Coast), this variety only needs about 100–200 chilling hours to produce a massive crop. No more "fruitless" seasons just because it didn't get freezing cold!

Why Eva’s Pride deserves a spot in your yard:

✨ Incredible Flavor: A delicious, fine-flavored yellow freestone peach that balances sweetness and tang perfectly.
✨ Early Harvest: While others are still waiting, you’ll be picking fresh fruit from late June to early July.
✨ Easy to Grow: It’s self-fruitful, meaning you don’t need a second tree for pollination. It’s a one-and-done powerhouse!
✨ Beautiful Blooms: Before the fruit arrives, you'll be treated to a stunning display of pink blossoms in the spring.

Whether you have a full orchard or just one sunny corner in your backyard, this tree is a game-changer for home growers.

Tell us in the comments: Are you a "eat it fresh off the tree" person, or are you already dreaming of homemade peach cobbler? 👇
