The basics of organic certification:

The first step in the process is to develop and get approved a Organic System Plan. The major part of this plan is to submit and get approved all the input products (soil conditioners, fertilizers, pest control, etc.) that are used. Any product not listed on the Plan must be submitted for approval and approved prior to applying it. To be certified organic you have to show proof that the products that have been applied are the only products that have been applied for the past 5 years. Each year there is an on site inspection of the farm and the documents. Most times there will be samples collected for testing by the certifying organization.
The administrative charges by our certifying agency is $245.00 annual fee and our last on-site inspection fee was $289.50.
