Please be aware before you visit that there is no outside food and drinks allowed. Fifteen years ago, in an attempt to keep the small farming industry alive, we purchased an abandoned farm, which was destined to be sold entirely for development. In that time, we have replanted orchards and vineyards to include the newer and much sought after varieties of fruit, and revitalized neglected fruit tree

s into a healthy and vigorous condition in order to produce some of the older, much loved varieties of fruit as well. Alongside our fresh selection of fruits and vegetables, we also offer a heartwarming selection of baked goods, including some of the best apple cider donuts in the valley, as well as weekend recreational activities like barbecue events, tractor-pulled wagon rides, a corn maze and a petting zoo. Whether the family wants to enjoy a peaceful afternoon picking a variety of fresh fruit and vegetables, or enjoy all of the various family fun activities we offer, everyone can expect to have a fun and pleasant time at DuBois Farms.

We are pleased to share that this season’s crops are thriving beautifully! The peaches are growing just as they should, the nectarines are looking excellent, and the apples are absolutely gorgeous. Our strawberry crop is also coming along spectacularly, and we are anticipating strawberry picking to begin sometime in mid- to late June.

Unfortunately, the earliest strawberries were impacted by the recent cold weather, and we felt their size and flavor would not meet the quality standards our guests expect from us. The good news is that the later strawberries are looking outstanding, and it appears that the blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are all developing wonderfully as well. We are hopeful that several berry varieties will be ready for picking around the same time.

At this point, our best estimate for opening day is sometime between June 13 and June 20.

To celebrate the start of the season, we’ll also be hosting a Strawberry Festival featuring live music, refreshing strawberry sangria, delicious strawberry desserts (and, of course, our homemade apple cider donuts!), and plenty of family fun on the farm.

We look forward to welcoming you for a wonderful start to the summer season!

Hello everyone!

DuBois Farms has great news!

Every year, we get asked: “What are those barrels for? And what do the big windmills do?”

Here’s the scoop! When spring brings the risk of frost or freeze that could damage our young fruit buds and blossoms, we fill those barrels with wood and light fires inside them to create warmth. The “windmills,” actually called wind machines, help by pushing warm air, which rises, back down onto the orchard, protecting our precious crops.

We work hard to take these extra precautions because we recently faced a deep freeze. For weeks, we prepared by cutting firewood and placing barrels and bins of wood throughout the orchards.
Our first defense is to turn on the wind machines, hoping they can pull warmer air from an inversion layer—where warm air hovers at a higher altitude above the cold ground air—and mix it to keep the temperature safe for the buds.

This time, there was little to no inversion layer, so the wind machines would have just been blowing cold air around. We relied heavily on the fires in barrels and apple bins to raise the temperature in the orchard; the wind machines pushed the rising heat back to around tree level. It worked! The temperature rose enough to save most of our fruit, with only a bit of loss at the orchard edges where cold air slipped in.

Thanks to this effort, we expect plenty of apples, peaches, grapes, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries this season. We will also be planting lots of veggies and pumpkins for your picking pleasure. We’re still watching the strawberry crop and will update you soon.
We can’t wait to welcome you back for plenty of fruit picking, delicious food and drinks from the pizzeria and tavern, and lots of fun family moments on the farm!

All the best,
The DuBois Family

Hello everyone!
We hope you're having a great winter. Ours is going well despite the frigid cold. So far the weather has been perfect for all the crops. The snow is a great blanket for the strawberries. The steady cold temperatures are keeping the fruit trees and berries in a perfect dormant state. The stone fruit (peaches, plums, nectarines, and cherries) could be impacted by the colder temperatures. Normally they are fine unless it reaches -15°. In which case we will use our barrels of wood to keep our peaches nice and warm! We've been working hard trimming trees, making repairs, and thinking of new ways to make the farm even more enjoyable for everyone! So, stay warm and we can't wait to see you in a few months.
