We’ve got some plans in store for The Merchant, so we are hiring! The ideal candidate loves to work in hospitality, a people person, and be somewhat knowledgeable about wine, spirits, and cocktails (not required but helpful). Responsibilities include bar back duties (running, washing, cleaning up, making sure supplies and inventory is stocked and ready), serving and private events assistance. Quick learners who work well in fast paced environments when needed. Training will be provided. Please email our chief merchant at [email protected] with your interest and qualifications.

Join us this Thursday for our BASQUE region wine pairing featuring GUEST CHEF (and Level II Sommelier) Felipe Toro Felipe Toro of up-and-coming Chicago restaurant, Chloe.

Chef Felipe will talk us through his curated, traditional Basque food pairing menu and how the flavors complement the Basque region’s wine selections we will be featuring (along with a surprise gin for the dessert course in true Basque style!)

MENU:
Escalivada - Grilled sourdough, sumac, yogurt, roasted vegtables, fresh herbs, olive oil
Gambas - Marinated head on prawns, romesco, salsa criolla
Pinxtos - Grilled lamb skewers, pickled shallots, salsa verde
Basque Cheesecake - Burnt cheesecake, gin marinated berries, whipped cream
