CSA Reflections 2020. We wanted to post a little wrap up of the Spring, Summer and Fall season and give thanks to all our amazing members for your support this year. Growing good food for you and your households has been an honor and a privilege.

We’re finishing up our 11th season as Working Hands Farm which is crazy to think about. As we look back on the 2020 season we are proud of all that was accomplished, especially during an exceptionally challenging year. CSA sign-ups begin January 1st so mark your calendars! (The view of the Chehalem Mountain-Bald Peak Wildfire from our farm) I was born in Oregon and I’ve lived here the vast majority of my 38 years and I’ve never seen anything like this. We have dozens of friends who have been evacuated from their homes and dozens more are on standby. We are safe but our hearts are broken for those folks who have lost everything in the fires that have spread across Oregon over the past 48 hours. Thank you to all the men and woman who are putting in the work to keep the rest of us out of harms way. Stay vigilant and stay safe.

Because of the amazing work folks are doing to Brian and I have recently been introduced to the , a Portland based organization that we encourage you all to follow and support! ⁣⁣

One of their projects includes providing CSA shares for BIPOC (Black Indigenous, and People Of Color) who are facing food insecurities with food grown by BIPOC Farmers.⁣⁣

I am woefully underprepared for the conversation that is now taking place on the national stage. And that is on me. I need to educate myself and acknowledge my privilege. I look in the mirror and I only see part of who I am. I don’t fully see the decades and centuries of opportunity afforded to me and those who look like me by the color of my white skin. I need to do better. I need to see clearer. I have no excuse. It is my responsibility to acknowledge my silence and begin to act as a productive ally to the black women and men in my community and beyond. I stand with those of you seeking justice for the violent murder of George Floyd and all who have been affected by the systemic and intentional racism that this country continues to profit from. It is time to do the work. I will mourn and I will do the work.
