Guest W**emaker this Friday pouring from 1-4PM! We can’t wait to welcome our friend Shelby Perkins. And what a story she has!
Shelby hails from upstate New York. She moved to central Oregon after graduating from college - working as an outdoor guide, testing groundwater, volunteering on archeological digs, and exploring the back country of the Cascades and High Desert. She then moved to Vermont to study environmental law, then was hired to work on nuclear law and policy for the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, DC. Traveling to Antarctica in 2006 inspired Shelby to follow a more creative and peaceful path. She then began her w**e career in California, and after several stints in the w**e cellars of Napa and Sonoma and making a vintages of Old Vine Zinfandel from the R. Teldeschi Vineyard planted in 1889, Shelby dropped out of the MW program and changed course one final time. She flew to Oregon to make Chardonnay in 2016 and founded the Bracken Vineyard in the Eola-Amity Hills in 2018. She is currently focused on growing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Aligoté and Pinot Meunier for her Perkins Harter label, as well as for other small w**emakers in the Willamette Valley.
