It’s been an active week for us during a very challenging planting season. The first weekend in May, we were able to plant a little wheat and barley and it is emerging now. We also planted a field of corn on May 12 and it is starting to emerge. After last falls wet conditions, they continue to be wet and so getting fields planted and emerged is a victory this year. We were able to get most of last year’s corn harvest in March and April, we have harvested a field edge now and again- these were places where the snow was too deep to harvest earlier.

Here is a video of loading the grain carts. The grain carts have probably been the most challenging to get through the deep snow.

Here is a video of the header being picked up very carefully at the end of the field so that the snow doesn’t go through the combine.

It’s been a long time since we have posted anything. However, the farming year 2019 has been one challenging year and one for the record books. We still have corn in the field and we are harvesting right now. Here are some pictures of a snowy corn harvest.

We are done with Harvest 2018! We started soybean harvest on September 12th and finished today (Nov 27). We started corn harvest on Sept 25th and finished on Nov. 9. It has certainly been weird harvest with a snowstorm in early October and very humid/wet weather in October. Certainly a harvest we won’t forget anytime soon! We are very ready to put harvest 2018 behind us, and looking forward to 2019!

Happy Thanksgiving! We aren’t done harvesting yet, but we are getting closer and the end is in sight! It is weird harvesting soybeans at Thanksgiving and even more weird harvesting soybeans in the snow. The video below is from the combine cab yesterday. We are going to take today off to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and get back to work tomorrow. We hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving with friends and family!
