Funny how this bothered me at the time...

I was surprised to get this negative review knowing that if I sold this person an African Taco kit at the State Fair in 2021, I would have taken time to explain what it is, how to make the batter, how long it lasts, how much it yields, etc. So why did he leave such negative remarks?

So I could enjoy the sweet taste of winning a Scovie Award the next year! Since that time, we've sold thousands of taco kits, handed out thousands of samples to customers who "try, buy and come back for more."

Our African Taco kit contains two things: Dried black eyed peas and a spice packet which you'll use to make a batter, and then fry (or bake) into falafel-like patties. It's based on akara, a popular West African dish. Actually, from our customers, we've learned this dish is popular in India, Brazil, and other parts of the world.

Is it for everyone? No - but if you purchase a kit, at least make the batter, don't just look inside the bag and call it a "rip off!" That's like sitting eggs, flour and butter on the kitchen counter and complaining that it's not a wedding cake.

It's the batter that matters!
