Cates Corner Farm, located in Hillsborough N.C., is a small, family-farm specializing in sustainable and aquaponic agriculture. We produce a wide range of fruits, vegetables and proteins and do so naturally using no sprays or pesticides. Aquaponic agriculture is a combination of aquaculture, raising animals in water, and hydroponics, raising plants in water. Within a closed aquaponic system, water

circulates between the animals and plants. The plants break down the animal by-products and use them as nutrients. The Cates Corner Farm aquaponic greenhouse specializes in producing fresh tilapia, herbs and vegetables year-round. Outside of the greenhouse, we produce eggs, seasonal crops and flowers such as tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, watermelons, potatoes, onions, garlic, blueberries, strawberries, apples, squash, lettuce, shiitake mushrooms, snapdragons and tube roses.

It’s strawberry season! We will have strawberries at Carrboro Farmers’ Market on Wednesday’s 3pm-6pm and Saturday’s 7am-12pm. Our farm stand will remain temporarily closed until further notice.

You can find us today at Carrboro Farmers’ Market from 3pm-5pm!! We will have collards, shiitakes, sweet potatoes, brussels, kale, cabbage, carrots, and peppers. You can also find our produce at the farm stand all day today!
