Double R Cattle Services, Inc. We are a Century Family Farm in Northern Orange County, NC, offering Pastured Beef, Pastured Pork, and U-Pick Strawberries.

We keep regular hours during strawberry season, but please call ahead to make meat purchases in the off-season. We are a family-owned farm in Hillsborough, NC. We offer Pastured Beef, Pastured Pork, and U-Pick strawberries. We have always been transparent about all our practices raising our cattle. Due to inflexible harvest dates at the abattoir, a lack of rain, and limited good quality forage on

our farm in 2020, we decided to supplement the cattle. Our goal in doing this is to insure you will have a good quality eating experience with our product. This supplementation includes some hay and a small amount of commodity feed. This is the first time we have done this since we started selling beef in 2009. Back in the Fall, we announced that we would not be having strawberries for Spring 2025. In case you missed it, here’s why:

An early morning call from another grower alerted us to a bad case of Neopestalotiopsis (Neo-p) in strawberry tips coming out of Prince Edward Island. The tips are what our local nursery uses to grow our plug plants. All the research that we could find about Neo-p fungus indicated that there is no cure, and Neo-p remains in the soil. Experts said we could mitigate the destruction of the plants with an intense fungicide spray program throughout the growing and harvest season. Even that didn’t guarantee a successful crop. With this information, we opted not to plant for the 2024-2025 season. We are starting our research now to find a clean source of plants for the 2026 harvest season. We will miss seeing everyone in Spring 2025 but hope to be able to return with Double R Strawberries in Spring 2026.

We appreciate all the love and support that you have shown our family and our helpers since we opened our first patch in 2009. Until we meet again, we hope that you will look for another family farm strawberry patch to support.
