Double R Cattle Services, Inc. We are a Century Family Farm in Northern Orange County, NC, offering Pastured Beef, Pastured Pork, and U-Pick Strawberries.

We keep regular hours during strawberry season, but please call ahead to make meat purchases in the off-season. We are a family-owned farm in Hillsborough, NC. We offer Pastured Beef, Pastured Pork, and U-Pick strawberries. We have always been transparent about all our practices raising our cattle. Due to inflexible harvest dates at the abattoir, a lack of rain, and limited good quality forage on

our farm in 2020, we decided to supplement the cattle. Our goal in doing this is to insure you will have a good quality eating experience with our product. This supplementation includes some hay and a small amount of commodity feed. This is the first time we have done this since we started selling beef in 2009. The word is slowly getting out so we thought we'd make the official announcement.

We have decided to no longer grow strawberries at the Double R.

Up until the last few years, we have had a steady flow of teens ready to join the Double R Action Team. They have grown up and moved on to bigger things. Our own children are entering the adult world and have responsibilities off the farm. Ritchie and Beverly can not do it alone. With a "no spray" patch, more hands are needed.

We appreciate you all being a part of the Double R patch over the last 17 years. There are other great patches in the area, and we hope you find one that you love.

Just letting you know we are closed for the season.

Our plants just didn't produce this year. In speaking with other growers, we found that they had difficulties too.

We spoke with the nursery where we bought our plug plants. They spoke with a long-time strawberry specialist and researcher on our behalf. The consensus is that the extended frigid temperatures in January were just too much. They basically sterilized the plants.

This really disappointed us, because we know it disappointed you. We hope you took the chance to visit some of our friends for your strawberries.
