Eye of the Rooster Farm

Eye of the Rooster Farm This page portraits mainly our animals, including several breeds of chickens: Ameraucanas, Silver Splash Marans, and Wyandottes among other breeds.

We also have available a cozy apartment for short term (2nights - 1mo) or medium term (1mo - 1yr) rental. We raised chickens and other animals since we were kids. As adults, we started enjoying our passion for animals and stay busy at Eye of the Rooster Farm with the dogs, chickens and other poultry, goats, and miniature donkeys. Our main efforts are dedicated to our favorite chicken breeds: Arau

canas, Ameraucanas, Wyandottes, and Leghorns. We have done a good job in the last years culling and selecting the best breeders and continuously improving our flock. We usually have chicks and hatching eggs available during the spring... send us a message if you are interested in something you see in this page. Only txt or email; no phone calls please. We will do our best to keep the page updated with pics and stories about our animals. Steve and Angel.

Probably one of the most difficult breeds to work with. Getting a duckwing rooster with the right color like the ones you will see in these pics is difficult. Getting one double tufted AND the right color is even harder.

This breed lay beautiful blue eggs and are excellent layers. The two more highlighted characteristics of Araucanas as per their APA standards is (1) Rumpless bird and (2) The presence of tufts. Legs and egg color, body size, etc are also important standard characteristics. Only a few colors are accepted by the APA for large fowl: White, Black, Silver and Golden Duckwing, and Black Breasted Red.

Our Story

We raised chickens and other animals since we were kids. As adults, we started enjoying our passion for animals and stay busy at Eye of the Rooster Farm with the dogs, chickens, peacocks, turkeys, guineas, goats, and miniature donkeys. Our main efforts are dedicated to our rare favorite chicken breeds. We have done a good job in the past years culling and selecting the best of the offsprings from our breeders and as of today we are very happy with our flock. Our initial birds were obtained from respected breeders, but we have done our part keeping and selecting the best of the best. Feel free to share your pics, experiences, and questions. We usually have birds and hatching eggs for sale... send us a message if you are interested in something you see in this page. We will do our best to keep the page updated with pics and stories about our animals... there are plenty of events to share in a weekly basis. Steve and Angel.
