What. A. Day. ⚜️🎺🍻

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out yesterday and made Halfway to Mardi Gras one heck of a celebration at the Barn!

From the music and dancing to the cold beer, great food and an absolutely beautiful evening out on the farm, it was one of those days that reminded us just how special this place can be when everyone comes together.

We appreciate everyone who spent part — or all — of their Saturday celebrating with us. You brought the energy, filled the farm and made it a day we won’t forget anytime soon.

And now today we shift gears a little…

The Barn is back open for a much more relaxed Sunday on the farm. Grab a beer, find a picnic table, spread out and enjoy an easy afternoon with us.

And if you’re heading out and about, we’ll also be over at Schaefer Farms pouring beer for their Irish Funday! ☘️🍻

Whether we see you at the Barn or out at the farm, thanks again for an incredible weekend.

⚜️🎺 TOMORROW. NOLA HITS THE BARN. 🎺⚜️

And the timing could not be better.

We’ve got a beautiful Saturday forecast, 40+ picnic tables spread out across the farm, the Barn doors wide open, cold beer pouring, incredible food and New Orleans music ALL DAY LONG.

This is your sign to cancel the boring Saturday plans.

Grab a table, spread out on the farm, bring the crew, grab some beads and settle in for HALFWAY TO MARDI GRAS — one of those days at the Barn you’re really not going to want to miss.

🎷 1–4 PM | Marshall’s Dixieland Jazz Band
We start the afternoon with traditional New Orleans-style Dixieland jazz from a group whose musicians have been keeping this music alive for more than 40 years.

🍴 1–8 PM | Drea’s Tapas
Drea’s will be outside all day with their regular deliciousness PLUS some special NOLA-inspired selections for the party.

🥁 6–9 PM | The Mighty Rumble Brass Band
Then the sun starts dropping, the brass gets LOUD and The Mighty Rumble Brass Band takes over with your favorites completely Mardi Gras’d up.

This is exactly why we love summer at the Barn.

A beautiful day. A table on the farm. A beer in your hand. Brass bands playing. Great food. And absolutely no reason to leave early.

⚜️ HALFWAY TO MARDI GRAS — TOMORROW!
Come early. Stay late. Bring your dancing shoes.

We’ll see you at the Barn. 🍻🎺

🎷 1–4 PM | Marshall’s Dixieland Jazz Band

We know it’s a little scary to admit it…but summer is starting to wind down. So naturally, we’re refusing to let it go quietly. 🍻🎶⚜️

THIS WEEK AT THE BARN starts Tuesday with our Old Time Session, hosted by the Long Hill String Band.

Wednesday, Riley’s Tasting Barn Trivia is back with two rounds of Riley-curated trivia and plenty of beer to help you think.

Thursday is all about taking it easy. Head down to the farm, grab a beer, settle into the barn or the paddock, and let Testo Pizza handle dinner from 4–8pm.

Friday, the Songwriter’s Stage welcomes Peter Horvath & Jerry Lardieri for a night of original music in the barn, with Endless Empanadas serving outside.

And then…SATURDAY. ⚜️🎺💜💚💛

We’re not ready to celebrate the end of summer, so instead we’re celebrating HALFWAY TO MARDI GRAS! Join us from 12–10pm for one huge day at the farm. Marshall’s Dixieland Jazz Band gets the party rolling in the afternoon, then The Mighty Rumble Brass Band takes over that evening. Drea’s Tapas will be outside with a special NOLA-inspired menu, so come hungry, grab some beads, get those dancing shoes ready, and plan on making a day of it.

Sunday, after all of that, we bring the energy back down with a nice, easy day at the barn and Drea’s Tapas back out on the farm.

One more full week of summer at Flounder. We’re making it count.

See you This Week at the Barn! 🍺

Full day Sunday ahead at the barn!

August’s Tap Talks kicks off at 2 PM with “Drinking (or Not) in Early New Jersey,” presented by Michele Rotunda of Union College and Tara Maharjan of the NJ State Archives.

Tara has been the brains behind the NJSAA Tap Talk series we’ve hosted throughout the year as part of the celebration of America’s 250th — and she also recently joined us in the brewhouse to help create The Federalist, a beer loosely inspired by a recipe published in the Trenton Federalist in the early 1800s. Brewed with New Jersey malt from Rabbit Hill and a touch of maple syrup, it’s a little taste of local history in your glass. And once we were done brewing, even our cow neighbors got in on the action with some of the spent grain!

We’ve also got a fresh batch of Victory Town Ale on tap only, brewed with local New Jersey malt and fermented with bread yeast.

Tap Talks starts at 2 PM and is completely FREE.

And there’s even more happening Sunday: Tales & Tabletops returns from 1–4 PM! This awesome pop-up book and board game shop is run by some truly wonderful people, so come browse for your next great read or game while you hang out at the barn.

Local history. Local malt. Fresh beer. Books. Board games. A 250-year-old barn.

That sounds like a pretty good Sunday to us.

See you Sunday!

Hillsborough Farm Week kicks off tomorrow, and it’s a great reminder of just how much agriculture is still woven into the fabric of our town.

Hillsborough really is the bridge into farm country here in Jersey, and we’re lucky to work with so many incredible local farms. From hazelnuts grown right down the road at Thistlebird Farm, to our spent grain helping feed the animals just outside our doors at 2 Sons, to the countless events, collaborations and even beers we’ve created alongside Norz Hill Farm — local agriculture is a huge part of what we do.

And speaking of Norz Hill… we’ll be over there Sunday evening as they kick off Farm Week with a VERY Hillsborough movie night!

🎬 The Family Recipe was written and produced locally, directed by a Hillsborough filmmaker, and filmed almost entirely right here in town. It’s currently making the rounds at film festivals — and you may even recognize a certain local beer popping up in quite a few scenes. 🍺

So come out Sunday night and support local farms, local beer AND local filmmaking all in one shot. Grab a spot at the farm, watch a movie made right here in Hillsborough, and help kick off Farm Week the right way.

There’s a whole lot happening right in our own backyard. Come celebrate it.

⚜️🎺 THIS IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL END-OF-SUMMER PARTY! 🎺⚜️

Summer may be winding down, but we’re sending it out with one HUGE, brass-filled, bead-flying celebration: HALF WAY TO MARDI GRAS! 📿🥳

On Saturday, August 29, the barn is turning into our own little slice of New Orleans—with the garage doors wide open, incredible food on the farm, cold beer flowing and TWO amazing bands bringing the party all day long!

🔥 Drea’s Tapas with a special NOLA-inspired menu ALL DAY
🎷 Marshall’s Dixieland Jazz Band: 1–4 PM
🥁 The Mighty Rumble Brass Band: 6–9 PM

If you’ve experienced these bands at the barn before, you already know—this is going to be LOUD, lively and absolutely impossible to sit still through!

Grab your beads, lace up those dancing shoes and come hungry, thirsty and ready to LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL! 🍻💃🎉

This is the end-of-summer celebration you do not want to hear about after you missed it!

This Sunday, Tap Talks returns with another look at 250 years of America — and this month we’re digging into the history of drinking (and not drinking!) right here in New Jersey. 🍺📜

“Drinking (or Not) in Early New Jersey” will be presented by Michele Rotunda and Tara Maharjan, who is also the force behind organizing this entire Tap Talks series!

And because you can’t talk about early New Jersey drinking history without having a little fun with the beer, we’re releasing TWO special small-batch beers for the occasion!

🍞 Tavern — Our next batch takes the historical inspiration even further, fermented with bread yeast, similar to the type of yeast that may have been used to ferment beer in earlier periods.

🍁 Trenton Federalist — A delicious ale brewed with floor malted barley grown right here in New Jersey by Rabbit Hill, plus a touch of maple syrup. The recipe is loosely inspired by one found in the Trenton Federalist, a newspaper circulated from 1800–1840.

Come in for a beer, stay for the lecture, and learn a little more about the fascinating history of beer, drinking, and temperance in New Jersey.
