Really appreciate the support, THANK YOU!

The establishment of Stoney Oaks Farms has been fraught with the road blocks of local government.

Our zoning battle has done a complete 180, and in the April Planning Commission Meeting minutes they discussed how anyone who wanted to "farm" all they need do is register through the right to farm act. At no time did they ever communicate that with us, they just denied our request to cooperate.

We now are having a new battle with a different local government. The City of Hillsdale is violating their charter. Its been 50 days, we've been told to kick rocks. Even after we tried to compromise in asking them to but up a green bulb or visor on the light. We have plans to install a u pick strawberry patch and that light will destroy that investment. We are also having some issues with flowering and fruiting in our veggies. Growing like its June, not August...

We've taken the issue all the way up the chain.

We were hoping if this is something you care about.

Would you please contact Mayor Stockford at 5173200543 (this number is listed on the City's website), this number also receives texts.

Text "Green Bulb" for support. Thank you ahead of time.

We are looking for a "garden processor partner".

Each and every fall we harvest large crops and each and every fall much of that harvest goes to waste when our fall schedules kick in.

We're looking for person(s) who are willing to trade them canning for us growing and supply all with canned goods for the next year.

We are starting our seedlings over the next fortnight.

We're willing to coop-op on plants (within reason, we're not growing stuff doesn't like michigan), if said person(s) have specific requests.

PM us if you are interested.

We've had a tough month on the farm.

In late feburary we were instructed by the Hillsdale Township Planning Commission our plan was rejected, outright.

This leaves us in a grey area, which we do not like.

We are allowed to "sell our produce through our farm stand" but we are not allowed "to commercial farm".

No where in the code does it specifically give parameters for a "commercial farm" nor how and what we can sell through our "farm stand" as so long at it is grown on the property.

We will have to adjust.

We will not be renewing our MDARD license for fear that could somehow be proof we are a "commercial farm".

We will no longer be offering anything "on demand", beyond seasonal veggies.

All orders must be "pre orders", or "club members" we haven't settled on what way we will go this summer.

We will no longer attend any farmers markets, all produce sold must be sold through our "farm stand", by appointment and "pre order" with the exception of veggie produce which we will send out posts, ads, and "invites" when it is ready for purchase through our "farm stand".

We are still offering fully customized "pre orders" on meat chickens.

And soon we will have eggs available through the "farm stand".

This is a dicey road, and things may change. The planning commission has set up codes that are very grey, and in that grey they hold total control and can issue fines at the cost of $150/ infraction on their own discretion.

Cornish Cross ($1/lb)+8 weeks ($.75)+Sustainable (0)+Butchered cuts ($1/lb)+Heat shrink sealed ($1.5/lb)+3 extra bags to put the separate cuts in ($3)= 5lb chicken, $4.25/lb+$3-$24.25/chicken

Any business or residence in Hillsdale city or township who wishes to participate in our food waste recycling program, thank you. We found a large scale community partner and are not sure if we can accept anything else. Thank you for your support and interest.

Must be ONLY food waste. Having to filter or process food waste to make it safe for chicken consumption defeats the purpose of the program.
