It’s amazing to look back at Jessie from July 2024. Even as a puppy, she already had that drive to help keep the flock together and get everyone safely tucked in for the night. We’ve worked hard on her training since then, and she’s become a vital part of how we manage things here.
There’s nothing quite like having a reliable set of paws to help watch over the coop! 🐶🐾

Hey everyone, it's Beckett! Are you ready for another chicken fact? Today we're hanging out with a Blue Plymouth Rock!

She's not sky blue-she's a beautiful smoky gray. Check out these dark edges on her feathers! That's called lacing, it makes her look like she's wearing armor.

Blue Rocks are super chill and great for families. Plus, they lay big, light brown eggs almost every day!

She's one of America's oldest breeds and definitely one of the prettiest. What do you think of her 'blue' feathers?

Day 11 update from the incubator! 🐣✨

We candled one of the eggs today and got the sweetest surprise — movement! Seeing that little wiggle inside the shell never gets old. It’s such a cool reminder that these tiny lives are growing more every single day.

Still a little while to go, but things are looking good in there! Fingers crossed for a strong hatch.🤞 🥚

We just had to share this incredible spread from Beak & Feather Farm ! If you’ve ever scrolled through social media and wondered, "Wait... what breed lays a purple egg?”, here is your answer!

That gorgeous plum/lilac hue is actually a Black Copper Maran egg in disguise.

It’s a combination of two things:
1. The Base: A deep, dark chocolate brown shell. 🍫
2. The Magic: An exceptionally heavy bloom (the cuticle). ☁️

When that thick, waxy white coating is deposited over the dark pigment, it refracts the light to create that stunning matte purple look. It's basically nature’s version of velvet!
We are feeling some serious "bloom envy" looking at these! 😍

With Christmas coming up, I wanted to share this. My son’s school has an Angel Tree for local families who could use a little extra help this holiday season.

An Angel Tree is where you “adopt” an angel and shop for their Christmas wants and needs, and every bit of support truly makes a difference. 🎁✨

You can make a difference too! Try calling your local schools to see if they have an Angel Tree or a similar program you can support.

If you’re able to help in any way, even donating an Amazon, Meijer, or Walmart gift card to these schools, it would go a long way in making sure these kiddos have a special Christmas. ❤️
