Did you know the famous “Pyrenees paw” is actually a real guarding behavior and not just a cute habit? 🐾🐕 Many Great Pyrenees will gently place their paw on people, other dogs, or even objects when they want attention or want to stop something. It can feel like a polite tap… but sometimes it turns into a full dramatic paw slap if you ignore them long enough 😂. Historically, these dogs used their paws to control livestock or gently guide animals that were wandering away. So when your Pyrenees puts their giant fluffy paw on you during dinner, they may look adorable, but they are basically saying, excuse me, I believe I should also be included in this situation 😌🐾. It’s one of the most recognizable and charming behaviors of the breed, and once a Pyrenees learns it works, they will absolutely use it for the rest of their life.
