Vendor Spotlight. October is apperication month. Today’s spotlight is on Davina Hall the owner of Prayer Creek Mountain Farm.
I'm a wife and homeschooling mother to my three little ones as well as to 2 stepchildren who are now grown. I love Jesus and my family with all my heart. I was born and raised in Virginia in the Riner area, moved to NC when I got married. After about nine years of marriage we were led to move to Hillsville last year to be a help at Living Word Outreach with Pastor Hunter Longoria in Dugspur. I enjoy cooking, hosting, singing, playing the piano. I also love animals and wish I had the means to have more farm animals. Right now though I love my cats and chickens.
Plantain Salve was my first ever product. I learned how to make it from a video that was gifted to me by my parents when I was a teenager. That led me down a path of natural remedies and old fashioned ways. They also say chickens is the gateway to homesteading...I can confirm that. About 4 years ago, I got my first 4 chickens and I dove in deeper to all the old fashioned ways I was drawn to. I soon was not only raising chickens, but making sourdough, fermenting my own sauerkraut, making nearly everything from scratch, and learning how to can things from diced tomatoes and jams, to chicken and beef.
I started selling my salve at a friend's mum farm in NC four or five years ago and was surprised that it sold out and people were requesting more. The next year I added in my mapled nuts and again I sold out of that as well. Now every year I have added new products as I learn new things. I enjoy it and it helps to support our family, especially since I am a stay-at-home mom. We now have grown our product line and I offer not only the plantain salve and mapled nuts but also elderberry syrup, colloidal silver, vanilla extract, sourdough starters, milk and water kefir starters, baked goods, fountain of youth face serum, and tallow sunblock.
