In Loving Memory of Sirio
Our beloved Sirio passed away peacefully at home this week, with our family by his side.
It is difficult to imagine a world without him in it. For six wonderful years, Sirio filled our lives with a love, joy, and companionship that can never be replaced. He was family in every sense of the word—a loyal friend, a gentle protector, and one of the greatest blessings we have ever known. His presence brought comfort to our days, and his love made our world brighter.
As a 145-pound Cane Corso, Sirio had a commanding presence. He was strong, majestic, and confident, but beneath that powerful exterior was a gentle, playful soul. There was a beautiful energy about him that could be felt by anyone lucky enough to spend time with him. He had a way of gazing at you that made you feel understood. In those quiet moments, it often seemed as though words were unnecessary, as if he already knew exactly what was in your heart.
Sirio had those magnificent jowls that make the breed so distinctive. As beautiful as they were, they were never very good at containing all the love that came pouring out in the form of wet kisses and trails of slobber. Time and again, just as we were dressed and ready to walk out the door, he would come over to greet us, leaving his mark on freshly cleaned clothes. Sometimes we'd laugh, other times we'd grumble as we reached for a towel. Today, those memories make us smile and fill our eyes with tears. What we wouldn't give for one more wet kiss on the cheek or one more slobbery stain on a clean shirt.
We still catch ourselves looking for him, expecting to see him when we open the front door. We still listen for his footsteps and imagine finding him stretched out in the sunshine in his favorite spot on the couch or on the terrace. His absence is felt in every room, in every routine, and in every moment when we instinctively look for him. Yet somehow, his presence remains. It lives on in our memories, in the love he gave us, and in the countless ways he enriched our lives.
Thank you, Sirione, for trusting us with your heart and for allowing us the privilege of loving and caring for you. Thank you for every slobbery kiss, and every moment of unconditional love. We miss you more than words can ever express.
We will meet again, sweet boy. The love we have for you lasts more than one lifetime.
Forever in our hearts.
