We offer all natural honey along with a variety of other beekeeping supplies and services. Poor Valley Bee Farm is a collection of hives scattered among the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in southwest Virginia. Most lie within earshot of the Carter Family Fold where June Carter Cash and family crafted the sound that would become the heart of country music. I remember watching my father and

his father work their own beehives when I was young. I didn’t immediately follow in their path in taking up the craft, but years later when I and my wife found ourselves living on a small farm in Hiltons, VA, I decided to try my own hand at raising bees and crafting honey. The work is never easy (hauling supers around is backbreaking work at any age), but bees are fascinating creatures and beekeeping provides a connection to the lands of Scott County where I have lived all my life. Our honey is produced from local wildflowers and trees such as loctus, basswood, poplar, and sourwood. Its taste and texture varies by season and location of the hives. Our honey is not processed and is all natural. In addition to honey, we offer a variety of beekeeping supplies including assembled hives, supers, hive tools, clothing and accessories. As a local supplier, we help reduce the overhead of shipping and handling costs by selling directly to beekeepers in southwest VA and northeast TN. Whether you’re just looking for good honey, thinking about setting up your own hives, or already an old hand, I enjoy meeting and talking with people about beekeeping. If you don’t find what you’re looking for on our site, feel free to drop me an email or give me a call.
